I'm sure you've all seen the stuff about the guys doing (or that did i suppose) the all points north charity challenge. At least 3/4 of the clubs in scotland donated items to be auctioned to help raise money for the two chairtys. But not celtic, they were offered a football with the signatures of the players printed on it for 20 pounds! When east stirling can promise a signed shirt and other clubs that are in a financial mare can come up with the goods why can celtic not offer something. There must be dozens of old strips lying about parkhead that could be signed and given to the guys!!!

Celtic Fc have more important matters to deal with now the league campaign is just a couple of days away. like getting players in,etc. If you got 3/4 of clubs to donate thats great but don't expect it from every club./

More important things to worry about than donating a simple football to guys raising money for charity??????
They would have sorted it if the guys paid, so what was the hassle with giving them it for free?
It's bad enough them not doing it for free, but your answer absolutely illustrates why scottish football fans detest the Old Firm.

Celtic are a huge club, they get hundreds of requests for signed shirts, balls etc , some people even kid on then are wanting it for a charity / Celtic events
They put a charge on to try and weed these people out, surely £20 for a signed ball is not to much to pay?, you would get that back easy in an auction, or it would be a ticket seller in a raffle. Celtic had a problem keeping up with demands for these types of things.
Remember, since it's birth (1996) the Celtic charity foundation (Or whatever it's called) has give over £1 million to charities, more than the rest of the SPl put together I would imagine.
Celtic were founded as a charitable organisation helping the poor and have continued to do that to the present day.

Thank you Lord Haw Haw for a more decent answer. Certainly, I can understand the amount of requests Celtic get, and whether I agree with your reasonings or not, it's certainly a much better reply than, "Celtic have far more important things to worry about".

It wasnt a proper signed ball they were offered, it was printed. Not likely to get much for a printed signed ball!
I do understand the point about how many requests they get but i think something like 35 of the 42 clubs have offered/goven them something.

the thing is though, these guys went around every league ground in Scotland and obviously visited parkhead, I'm sure it wasn't your usual guy phoning up asking for a signed ball.
When you compare how well these guys were treated at East Fife to how they were treated by Celtic, it does reflect badly on the club.

Not sure about the printed sigs on a ball.
Celtic did offer something...for £20, it's to get rid of the people just wanting a present and suchlike, I can assure you celtic do not make money out of "selling" auction/raffle items. The charge is to try and control the requests.
I'm sure East Stirling could offer goodies, try a few dozen phone calls, letter, e-mails, chaps on the door etc etc, they would get fed up and stop oing it altogether, or bring some sort of control to it.

As I already said, it was not two guys who sent an e-mail to Celtic, they actually wnet there and Celtic knew who they were and what they were doing, how hard would it have been to get the players to sign a ball or a shirt and hand them over?
Your point about smaller clubs, there is a difference. Celtic have an army of staff compared to the likes of East Stirlingshire, but most clubs made a little effort to help these guys out.

First off how many people at Celtic Park knew this was a proper charity event
and not just some fans looking for an autographed football to be sold on
E-Bay? Celtic Fc does enough for charitable groups that are organized and not
just coming off the street.

Read! These guys were going around all the stadia in Scotland, it was an organised event where all the clubs were informed prior to them coming. These people turned up at Celtic Park and the people at Celtic must have known who they were. All they needed to to was give the guys a football or a shirt FFS!!

Thing is gordon they were at celtic park in the middle of the night. It seems that ourselves and berwick treated them to a day out aswell after the main event. I wonder if anyone greeted them at CP. Pretty sure there would have been a few down at bayview even if it was the mifddle of the night!!
