Just looking for a bit of help with my Sky TV.

Over the paste couple of months I have been getting a "no satellite signal is being received" message usually with fault code 28. The first time this happened I got this message every time I changed channel, so I went through all the obvious things, like checking cables and resetting the digibox but that didn't work so I called Sky and they sent out a engineer to have a look he came out and replaced the LNB, this did work for about 2-3 weeks until the fault reappeared, so I went through all the checks again and reset the digibox as well as disconnecting the output I have going to the other TV's in the house but this didn't work. So again I called Sky and they sent out a engineer to try and sort the problem this time, after he had a look at it he decided that the digibox was needing replaced, so with having the new digibox I thought that would be the problem sorted but now I have another problem with the system. I am again receiving the "no satellite signal is being received" message with fault codes 25 & 28. But this fault is not happening when changing channel's it is happening once I have tuned into a channel also it doesn't happen all the time but when it does happen it lasts for anything between 5 and 10 minutes unless I change the channel. When the signal breaks off it is fault 25 and after a couple of minutes it changes to 28. And finally over the pest couple of weeks I have been getting intermittent breaks in sound. I have again went through all the usual things to check as well as resetting the digibox but it hasn't helped. I have again contacted Sky about this and they are sending out another engineer in the next couple of days. But what I would like to know is there any other things I could check or try out to see if they help. Also anyone who knows what the Sky Fault codes mean please can they tell me.

Also this is standard Sky not Sky+ or HD

Thanks

Has any temporary scaffolding or the like been erected in the last wee while close to where you stay?

I have a similar problem with 'no signal received' messges. Phoned Sky last night and went through the usual stuff. An engineer is booked for Saturday, but Im out of warranty sad.gif

Whats the weather like when this happens? I have a feeling that where my dish has been put up is a wind trap and it doesnt like it dry.gif

Not really. All though there has been some put up further down the road but it is on the opposite side of the street but that shouldn't effect it as it is not in front of the dish. The only other thing I can think of is some demolition work that has been going on directly across the street and some demolition behind the house.

The weather has been a bit windy but it has never really affected the signal in the past unless the wind has been gale force. The only thing I can think of is that some how the dish has knocked out of line.

Ive been trying to do a bit of reading about it on various forums. Seems to be the kind of thing that can be caused by lots of different things sad.gif The dish could be slightly out of alignment, as you say, could be faulty LNB, could be the cables or could be the box itself.

Im going to have another go at fixing it tonight and see what happens. Apparently, forcing the box to do a software download can fix it unsure.gif

edited to add - one suggestion was to pulg your box in at someone elses house and see if it works there - rules out the box being the cause

As well as digitalspy which Monster posted, I have found AVforums helpful in the past.

Practically everything that I would suggest has been suggested already. I would agree with Jeff though and try your box at another house that has sky if you can. It would eliminate the box for sure.

Well mine turned out to be the box.

The engineer swapped the input cables over and input2 still wouldnt lock, so it obviously wasnt the dish or lnb. He swapped the box over and it works fine now smile.gif

Same here. The engineer tested everything again and couldn't find any faults with the dish or lnb. Also he did witness the signal cutting out for no reason.

Just hope that this solves the problems.
