I do think we have a strong enough squad to win this league (maybe) but I was kind of hoping for than 3/1. I'll keep my money at that price.
Whistle Blower
I thought East Fife would be worth a punt, but not at that price, Brechin look tasty at 9/1.

Thought that too about Brechin.

Arbroath are also far too long odds IMO.
Monster
If I was betting it would be on Alloa @ 6-1.

We are far too short odds @ 9-1. Make it 100-1 and I might consider a fiver each way.
JimLichtie
If genuine, all of these odds are far too short to capture my interest.

Wonder what Arbroath are not to be relegated?
AllanJM
If this is they way Ladbrokes are calling it the handicap betting will be very interesting.
renton
I'd take Ayr at 9/1, despite Monster's pessimism.... that's a good price for a team that will probably be challenging at the top.
Cliche Guevara
I don't want to get too involved in Ayr's propsects but I do what wonder the basis upon which Alloa, Peterhead and Stirling are considered better bets than us.

Probably because they all finished higher in the league than you last season and that was all the research Ladbrokes could be bothered with. The East Fife odds would of course go against that but it might be that someone was reading this board an believes some of the crap (not from EF fans I might add).
Michael W
Ayr at 9-1 looks (for me) the best value there. I don't think we'll win the league so that is a wasted bet IMO. I was hoping EF would be nearer the 8-1 or 9-1 mark, I thought they would be a decent outsider bet.

I note that Queens Park are on shorter odds than both Stranraer and Arbroath. I fancy QP for the drop this year, so I hope there are half decent odds available on them to be relegated.

Because they are better teams with better managers, better boards and are more competently run?

Just at a guess.... rolleyes.gif

I'm glad the board has a pessimist to take my place while I have a 12 month secondment to the land of the optimist.

All my optimism drained from me on the first Saturday of last season. sad.gif

3/1? Joint favourites again? Poor odds when you consider that we have shown no major improvement over the past year.

Don't fancy Alloa, Peterhead, Brechin or Stirling either. Ayr are a distinct possibility though, good if unspectacular signings and a manager who was improving their performances at the end of last season (from what I saw).

I agree! Firstly the super Lichties being the longest price is nonsense, secondly Ayr at 9/1 is worth a punt for all the gamblers out there as i can see them winning the league with a wee bit to spare.

Ayr for the title, Raith, East Fife, Alloa for the play-offs and Queens for the auto drop and the michty 'Raer for the relagation play-off spot.

Javier Mascherano
Ayr and Brechin each way, thanks.
Gnash
Not great odds for any of the teams. If pushed, I'd split my tenner between East Fife and Ayr at those prices.
marf-1870
Surely will be able to get better odds than that before the season starts. Even 16/1 is pish on Stranraer should be well into the hundreds laugh.gif.

A shame there is no squad thread on this forum, like in the First Division page, would be handy for the ill informed like myself. Is Ryan Stevenson still at Ayr? Quite fancy them at that price. I know they've signed Hot Shot Aitken, Scott Agnew, Prunty, Borris and Grindlay. Anyone else?

Alan Dempsie from Elgin has signed, Stevenson is still there and McLaren is expected to sign shortly.

Don't bet on Ayr though. We won't win it.

Start one then. I'm sure the fans of each team will add their squads for you. It's a good idea.

I don't understand when people say I'd take such and such AT THOSE PRICES! For example there's a horse i think will win and its only 5/2 so I decide to take a horse at 7/1 because it is a bigger price. Obviously I am going to take the horse i think will win! Or East Fife are 3/1 and I think they will will it but seen as Arbroath are 20/1 I will take them instead! If I think an outcome will happen but the price is shite I just don't bet on the event! Anyway....... laugh.gif

I think Ayr will win the league. I am going to wait though as I will hopefully get higher than 9/1 at another bookie.
Last season Ayr were roughly 6/1 to win the league, this season we are 9/1. Strange as we seem to have a much stronger squad this season. Ladbrokes won't bother to find that out though!
Buckfast
I've just put £20 on us at 9/1 for the league. sad.gif

With the chance to take one of our competitors out in the first game and get off to a flyer.

Who is Ladbrokes odds maker? They're having a laugh surely?

Price
East Fife 3/1
Raith 4/1
Peterhead 11/2
Brechin 13/2
Ayr Utd 7/1
Alloa 7/1
Stirling 8/1
Stranraer 16/1
Qns Pk 16/1
Arbroath 20/1

Betfred reckon East Fife will be the team. I do too. I dont think Arbroath will finish bottom tho.

Well I dont think Livingston or Dunfermline will win the 1st division and I think odds of 16/1 are about right. However, if someone was offering me 100/1 then I would back them at that price.

I know that is an extreme but basically to most gamblers you go with what you think is value. That is why you will hear a lot of people refer to having a bet because of the prices.

It usually presents more of a trading opportunity than actually a winning bet.

Oddschecker are quoting very similar prices from the few bookies that have posted odds.

Betting on your team to win the league? That's a surefire recipe for disaster!

Absolutely right. When Denmark were admitted into Euro '92 after Yugoslavia got kicked out, bookies were still offering astronomical odds of 250-1 for them to win the tournament.

We all know what happened nexT!
