PALMYLAD
I see from the QOS mad site that photographer,Kenny Ramsay,is struggling for people to write stories about last season's amazing cup run/Palmerston Park etc.

I have copied his post across to see if the good people on this site could give a helping hand. He is looking for 200 stories and so far has only about 60. You can write as many as you want and all will be published in the new Queens book.

There are a few fans on here who are more than capable of submitting a good story. If you can could you please help out.(that's if you haven't already tongue.gif )

I Have mentioned in this week's local press that I am publishing a pictorial account of the road to Hampden. The book will also contain a piece on Palmerston itself and is being done in association with Queen of the South. I have obtained some pics from the two games I missed at Peterhead and against Linlithgow.

However the main aim of the book is to include fans stories and memories of the 2007/8 Scottish Cup. I need people to write/e mail asap their recollections and what this year has meant. I need words about Peterhead, Cappielow, McCann's goal, words on players, bus trips the parade, please write on as many topics as you wish. pieces can be a sentence, a paragraph or a page, I don't mind. Your name and home town will be included in the book if a written piece is selected, SO BECOME A PART OF QUEENS HISTORY !! The book will be coffee table type, hardback about 1.5kg in weight to be printed in Singapore and November will be the last deadline, but hopefully before.

If you wish to subscribe in advance let me know and your name will be listed on the last page under Queens initials.

Any queries let me know by e mail or on 07779140923.

If I get no words I cannot do the book.

You can post your articles to - Kenny Ramsay Photography, 78 Newark Street, Greenock, PA16 7TF or e-mail - kennyramsay@mac.com

Any stories on the cup run, any stories to go with feature on Palmerston Park, and in particular views/thoughts on players, manager and chairman. I don't think I have received anything about the manager yet. Two great stories on David Rae received today

Since I last posted on 4th June, the number of stories has reached almost 50 from as far and wide as Ottawa, Peterhead,Dunblane, Bolton,Nottingham, The Wirral and of course Dumfries. I have written to the supporters clubs (4) for help and things are beginning to move quite nicely. I would encourage you to write though because I promise you a great souvenir and to have your piece included I am sure will be something to look back on in years to come. I will be doing some quotes from the squad as well to get their take on things so that might be another 15 or so anecdotes.
So far nothing on the gaffer, very little on the Chairman and really only one individual piece on Thommo of all the players so bear that in mind.
Many thanks again

Quite rightly so......After all it was our 1st ever Scottish Cup Final.

And why not? If the Old Firm can release a DVD every time they win a game, then I don't see a problem with the way Queens are marking such an historic event.

i agree guys, get everything you can out of it.

Kenny is an excellent photographer should be a good book.

Do you think he'd accept a story for how much i hated seeing McCann's shot fly towards goal? tongue.gif

Do they have to be about QoS? Cos' I have an idea about these short people with hairy feet "bobbits" who inhabit a fantastical world called "centre Earth" and they have all kinds of wacky adventures with wizards and dragons and the such like. I think it might be a winner

edit - if it has to feature QoS I am sure I could fit them in

I think that's exactly the sort of thing he's looking for! I'm under the impression he's looking for opposition fans stories that we played against on the road to the final, so get your stories in! wink.gif

I do a bit of football photography myself and I've known Kenny for several years - IMO he's the best football photographer in the country, he sees and captures moments that nobody else does - I'll zap him a bit about our quarter final with Queens and I'll certainly be buying a copy.

Good idea. It would be interesting to get a story from an Aberdeen fan point of view.

How did they feel about him before the match? How did they feel about him after the match?!

Thomson's a legend. Whenever a 37 year old Partick captain scores an equaliser against Rangers in the scottish cup final then you can take the pizzaro! tongue.gif

19QOS19 - How you felt when McCann's goal went in is exactly the kind of thing he is looking for....See Kenny Ramsay's post below to also see what he's after..It doesn't matter how big or small it is. He just needs about 200 stories to go with his pictures. Get writing young man biggrin.gif

I have. Emailed Kenny the night of the Scotland/Czech game, got a reply the following day saying that what I'd submitted was what he was looking for, the piece I sent him was written on the Sunday morning after the semi final

I haven't done anything as yet. I really should I suppose because it'll be a great memento but I've been out of the country twice since the cup final and then working a lot of hours to make up for the time I was off and the time I was working at Palmerston. I'm just about caught up now so I'll see if I can find time to do something in the next week or two.

I'll also contact him at some point to say I've no objection to him using the match reports off the official site I wrote for the Peterhead, Morton, Aberdeen and Rangers games if he so wishes. I didn't write the Linlithgow or Dundee reports, Colin Johnstone did, so he'd need his permission to use those two.

Skyline - The cut off date is August 10th . He needs as many stories as possible . Doesn't matter if it's about the cup run,the players, the manager or Palmerston Park. He is heading down to Dumfries to interview the playing staff etc and to take some more photo's of the ground in late July or early August i believe.

From the official QoS site....

Kenny Ramsay, a freelance sports photographer, is producing a colour book about last season's cup run, culminating in one of the finest days in the club's history. As well as photos, Kenny is looking for stories from supporters about the cup run - so if you have any funny stories, messages or anecdotes about the games, players or the Chairman that you would like to share with others, please email them to kennyramsay@mac.com. You might just end up in print.

Any other Queens fans going to or have already contributed ?
PALMYLAD
Last chance saloon boys.......

Hello Queens fans - just to give you an update on the Cup book, the deal is struck and production is underway on the design stage.
Due to time difficulties with the Singapore printer, my attention has now turned to a top book printer in China who say the book will arrive in the UK on 21st October with a further delivery of up to 10 days from there.
Because of this, all stories have now been sent to the proof reader for initial checking as all book files have to be at the printer on 12th August. The printed book will be completed on 23rd September.
It is not too late for short stories but the cut off is now 25th July. I will be taking the final pics for the book at Palmerston on 28th July and at the moment I am trying to get the Morton and Peterhead programmes to snap. If you have them please let me know.
Thanks to everyone for your support so far. I have reached around the 100 mark for stories which is fine.
Regards

Kenny Ramsay

Just finished reading my copy of 'Passport to Europe'. Great memento of a fabulous unforgettable time. A "must have" for any Queens fan and probably anyone who was there on either of those magnificent visits to Hampden.

Even if the editor has jettisoned almost everything I wrote for it before publication and I have somehow managed to avoid every single picture that's included. dry.gif Perhaps the camera broke on the ones with me in them ph34r.gif Or the lens wasn't wide enough laugh.gif

Nah seriously, brilliant publication. Well done to Kenny Ramsey and hopefully he'll catch the Xmas market with it. He deserves to.

There's a very limited supply in the club shop. Just about sold out already. I don't know if they'll get more. But there will be a shop opening in the Loreburn Centre specifically to sell them on November 23rd (next Sunday). Don't know if it's just open the one day or if it's open all week or what. Palmylad will know.

I spoke to Kenny at the Dundee United v Dunfermline CIS Cup game a couple of weeks ago - I'm sure he said the shop would be open for a few days. His website says "It will be on sale at the Loreburne Centre in Dumfries between 24th and 30th November."

It's on my Christmas list
