Mark my words... now that mcDonald is away to Burnley and the Dees have a bit of cash, Snodgrass will be a Dee in the next few days. We can now pay Livi the compensation they would require. I actually wouldnt be surprised if this has been the plan the whole time as it seems to have dragged on a while and even though Snodgrass has been linked with other teams nothing ever happens. He has verbally agreed to sign for Dundee once the compo money was in place!!!

I heard that the compensation was a done deal but it was just Snodgrass deciding he didn't want to dirty his arse on your manky bench that is sending him south.

Correct. Deal between the clubs would have been done before we'd talk to him. Hope he now realises the opportunity he has at Dens.

I'd say he has a better opportunity to make a name for himself down south.

I didnt say they hadn't agreed terms!! but maybe Dundee said we will have the money in place once McDonald has gone. Teams sometimes know a lot more than us, the fans get told. Maybe certain people knew Kev was away soon and brokered a deal with Livi on that understanding!!

Spot on. With Kev now gone, he'd be perfect for an attacking central midfield role with McHale or Young as the holding centre mid. Another few signings of decent quality and he could be headed for the SPL with us.

The one team down south willing to pay the 6 figure compensation is Leyton Orient. League 1 football, whilst of good standard, is surely not all he sees himself doing next. He'd have a great chance to show what he can really do at Dens and help drive us on to the SPL.

McMenamin, MAC, Gilhaney, O'Brien and Snodgrass would be a great attacking 5 to have in our side.

not gonna happen, we should now look to guys who dont mess us about, if thats possible....

I agree young is not the answer, still hear that we might be getting lennon on loan form rangers....

He's going to Caley, so that's not even a rumour.
strathbrock
Why would Snodgass think that a sideways move to Dundee was furthering his career? He's done the SPL and he's done the 1st Division. The lad wants to try another platform. He won't find anything different at Dens.
Juan Sara
I doubt Snodgrass will be going to Dens, I think we'll try to bring in someone from a SPL team or maybe even England.
wattie_rojas
Snodgrass is a talented player but very inconsistent. I don't think it'll happen.

You're wrong there. Dave McKinnon said just a few days ago that Dundee are still in contact with Snodgrass. I took this to be the reason why the board took the decision not to withdraw the offer to him whilst withdrawing the offer to Innes.

The board must still be quite encouraged by what Snodgrass has been saying to them as we are notorious for setting signing deadlines and pulling offers at the drop of a hat. Just my own opinion on how I see it though. Couldn't see McKinnon being held to ransom.
Juan Sara
I've got it, a player who is aparently on his way out a club, who has experience in the 1st Division, who knows Rae well AND who supports Dundee.

Some call it rumour, others call it absolute shite. Snodgrass is a winger/striker is he not? I couldn't see him replacing the Burnley reserve midfielder in the new look Dee side that will entertain us all next season.

Aye, because everything McKinnon has said this close season has turned out to be true, hasn't it? laugh.gif

As Strathbrock says, signing for Dundee would be a sideways move for Snodgrass. He's more likely to be able to 'show what he can do' down south where there's a greater chance of him being picked up by a bigger club if he has a good season. League One or not, its still deemed a better and more attractive league than the big decision makers. Plus there's the money. Remember, we've already seen Ryan McCann ditch the opportunity to play European football to sign for Morcambe, FFS.

Did Millar have any other options? If not, then no. Snodgrass has the opportunity to play on a 'bigger' stage and should take it.

Is it a bigger stage though?serious question I know we cant compete with lower league english clubs but I have watched some stuff in the 2nd/3rd div and the standard is not the greatest.

As I've said, he's more likely to win a move to a bigger club while plying his trade south of the border. Do you not think that's the case?

You could be right I just dont think it is a better level of football, but I suppose a new start more money and more exposure is attractive.

Snodgrass

QUOTE
Snodgrass told News & Star Sport: "I certainly wouldn't rule out a move to Carlisle because they are a big club with lots of potential.

"I'm looking to move away from Livi after five years as a pro there. I want to move away and start a life with my girlfriend and daughter.

"I've not had any dealings with the Carlisle manager but my agent has spoken to him several times.

"I've had offers from Dundee, Hamilton and Kilmarnock but I don't think Hamilton and Killie are keen on paying compensation.

"I've also have had interesting offers from four or five teams in England. I have been down south over the last couple of weeks visiting clubs and their stadiums and I feel the time is right for a fresh challenge.

"I'm told Livi looking for a compensation figure which is putting teams off, I just hope they will be realistic."

Not really anything anybody didn't know already apart from where he's been the last few weeks.

I expect him to move to England but if he stays in Scotland we've got a great chance of getting him.

It would appear that Snodgrass' agent is Lee Matthews, who was his team mate last season. Would it be beyond belief that a brand new agent is trying to up his own profile by hawking his player around various clubs, and planting rumours.
