Full Version: Recovering A File

I was creating a new spreadsheet last night, and decided to use an existing one as a template. So I edited the existing one, but mistakenly saved the new one over the old file.

I've just realised this now, and I'm not sure if there's a way to get the old information back. It'll take a good few hours to gather up the information I had in the old one, so I'd really like to be able to get the file back to the way it was.

Is there a way of doing it, or is it all lost?

Unless you've backed up the folder in question, chances are, all is lost. Just in case though, try right clicking on the folder that contains this file (so if you're in the folder looking at this spreadsheet file, click up one level) and click on properties. If you have a previous versions tab, then you're in luck and you can select the date the file was last there, and you can copy and paste it into the original folder.

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately, I don't have the previous versions tab, so I'll have to just start it all again.

I stumbled across this today, not sure if it'll help or if in fact you still need it.
