Right rangers fans, please can you help me, i am trying to sign up to the site but for some reason no matter what email address i use it isn't working, if any of you can help by asking a mod on there to help i would be greatful.

I must sign up to it as there is a thread on there about my Uncle who sadly died, he was a rangers fan and some kind person made a thread and my dad wants to read what is in it.

Thankyou.

Rangers veteran Adam Little has passed away

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FF was privileged to interview Doctor Adam Little in 2006. Earlier this year he moved into Erskine Hospital - although he was very alert his body was frail and living out in the countryside was a little too much for him.

He was a smashing gentleman of the old school and very proud to have worn the jersey.

He watched the football last night, said he was tired, went to bed and passed away gently in his sleep.

He was a guest of Follow Follow at the Struth Centenary Dinner at Ibrox and greatly enjoyed himself - he called me the next morning full of the joys - he simply couldn't believe the warmth and the attention from fans who came around to get his autograph and he loved meeting some of his old playing pals.

As a veteran of the 8-1 game over Celtic the punters had a special reason to like him!

Our condolences go out to his family and friends.

RIP

Doctor Little will be laid to rest at 1pm on Wednesday at Greenock Crematorium.

The family have asked for family flowers only and that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Erskine Hospital. Or that fans perhaps consider attending Esrkine events or do some fundraising over this summer. Adam would have liked that.

An absolute gentleman of the old school as GS says. I spoke to him not long ago and during our conversation I asked him who he considered to be the 'Greatest Ranger.' Without a second's hesitation he replied "Willie Woodburn, son. Willie Woodburn."

We have a rich tapestry as a Club but time takes its toll on those that are left. It is up to us to keep their memory alive.

Adam Little played his part. He played for Rangers.

May he rest in peace.

One of his neighbours and son did great work looking after him and they were of that opinion - I was unable to determine accurately if he was but I suspect at the time of his death he would have been. A few years ago Jimmy Smith certainly was.

A nice chap, and a good innings.

And not a bad way to go - peacefully and after some enjoyable football.

One of the best things in recent years about the growth of fans' groups and the charity campaigns has been the chance to meet such as Dr. Little.

Proud men, who loved playing for the Rangers and were from an era where they may have earned a little more than the punters but they were proud to represent them.

Had my photo taken with him at the Struth dinner. Typical of players of the Struth era, he was genuinely surprised and flattered that anyone would want to speak to him. RIP Mr Little.

Very sad to hear this news.

Like several from this board, I met the man himself at the Struth Anniversary dinner, and he was as pleasant a person as I have ever met.

One thing is for certain, he lived his life.

Rest in Peace Dr. Little

Proud men, who loved playing for the Rangers and were from an era where they may have earned a little more than the punters but they were proud to represent them.

Another link with the Bill Struth era now gone. I can only think of possibly three high profile players left, Bobby Brown, Ian McColl and Sammy Cox from the last of his great sides. There are bound to be players who were reserves.

I have read the article about the life of Dr.Little and although I never saw him as a player, although I never had the pleasure of meeting the man, I will be attending his funeral service. He was the type of person that made The Rangers Football Club the greatest club in the world.

One of the best things in recent years about the growth of fans' groups and the charity campaigns has been the chance to meet such as Dr. Little.

Proud men, who loved playing for the Rangers and were from an era where they may have earned a little more than the punters but they were proud to represent them.

Very well put sir

He watched the football last night, said he was tired, went to bed and passed away gently in his sleep.

He was a guest of Follow Follow at the Struth Centenary Dinner at Ibrox and greatly enjoyed himself - he called me the next morning full of the joys - he simply couldn't believe the warmth and the attention from fans who came around to get his autograph and he loved meeting some of his old playing pals.

As a veteran of the 8-1 game over Celtic the punters had a special reason to like him!

Our condolences go out to his family and friends.

I think this is a brilliant way to remember the life of Dr little but i think we should be looking to help Erskine more on a week to week basis

Served his Country and His team well

Came across this on BBC WW2 Peoples War site

http://www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/s...a2461899.shtml

This contribution is taken from the collections of the McLean Museum, Greenock, Inverclyde Council.

Dr. Adam Little, a local GP, played for Glasgow Rangers and Greenock Morton. During the war he would play for Arsenal and the Army.

Dr Adam Little

I was called up to the army on a Saturday.. and on that Saturday we were playing Celtic, so I wrote to the CO and asked if I could be excused and he let me off!
The sergeant in the mess was a fellow I played football with, a goalkeeper with Blantyre Vic. This fellow Gillespie he said there's a doctor in Aldershot who wants to see you, Jimmy McKillop, he wants you to go up for afternoon tea and I go away along to Aldershot and theres tea dancing and so that was my introduction to the Army and while I was there I played for the Arsenal, I used to go up, I'd leave on the Friday, go up and stay in a hotel in London, Arsenal payed my digs, well the boys used to come up on the Saturday and I stayed Saturday night and they stayed in the hotel room, they couldn't get accommodation so they slept on the floor, three or four of my pals!
When I went out to the Middle East, I arrived at the transit camp.. the CO posted me to GHQ Cairo Surplus T as a surplus doctor - I was posted there so I could play football for the army. I played for the army and the combined team, the Wanderers against the Egyptians and the CO says to me well we've got to beat these Egyptians...I said there's only one way, to select 14,15 players and all stay together and train together. We did that for a fortnight. The boys were all excused duties and we played them and won. The CO said what would you like to do now and I said 'I'd like to do a tour of Cyprus. Right! and it was organised, we went to Cyprus. A cooks tour!
The soldiers came from miles around..The Wanderers had International players - like Harry Johnstone, Andy McLaren. We went all over Palestine and it was amazing, the fellows were fed up with life really, confined to barracks, and areas and the like. They appreciated the football teams coming to play for them.

Excellent, and whilst it is a piece about Adam Little, the worthy notification of the score in a "competitive" match of 8-1, brings a smile to my face.

For that alone Adam Little deserves great recognition!!

Re: Obituary for Adam Little

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Robert McElroy, editor of the Rangers Historian, and myself attended the funeral service for Adam Little on Wednesday afternoon at the Greenock Crematorium.

Those attending came from every walk of life which Doctor Little had trod. Friends, family, medical colleagues, former patients. One of those present was a former Italian partizan whose family had become friends and whom Adam made trips to visit. Another was a lady who got chatting to him one day in a cafe after his wife’s death - acting according to her faith she pressed a small crucifix into his hand hoping it would provide some comfort, he never forgot her kindness.

The service was conducted by the Doctor Peter McEnhill, the minister of Kilmacolm Old Kirk. The funereal hymns were “Oh Love that will not let me go” and “Be Thou my Vision, Oh Lord of my Heart.” John Bell’s “Go Silent Friend” was read as prose.

The Reverend McEnhill recounted Adam’s life and gave thanks for it on behalf of all those who were lucky enough to have met him along his journey. Adam Little crammed several careers into his life and he lived and died a gentleman.

Little's introduction to the Rangers first team was gradual - his debut came at Stoke in October 1937 in a benefit match for the victims of the Holditch Colliery Disaster Fund, every player donating a week's wages to the fund.

I believe it was from this game that the club inherited the Loving Cup.

An interesting read. Was anybody from Rangers at the funeral GS?

Yes that was the Loving Cup match. Dr Little's family still have the coffee set of china he and other players were presented with.

His first team debut game and he had to mark Stanley Matthews!

I didn't recognise anyone from the club there but they hay have been represented.

I really enjoyed reading that sad to think thats the last of the men gone from the 8-1 new years day game and even sadder to think we don't revere this win or the men who played in that game enough.

One thing that did jump out was the bit below. Especially in light of Rangers allegedly wanting young Euan Lindsay to cut short his education in order to sign for the club.

Medical studies continued. Struth encouraged his young player. "Sport and education - this is something every boy should do - combine both." Most certainly while he was a student in Glasgow he was available to play for the club.
