I see a poster on caleythistleonline says that George Best once played 45 minutes for Motherwell in a pre-season game. Is it true?

Possibly.

I seem to recall having a Motherwell programme from about 1977. Sure it was a Testimonial or a Challenge of some sort and George Best was on the cover!

He played 45 minutes for Scone Thistle apparently.

Yeah it's true. When he played in America for San Jose Earthquakes we played them in a friendly, and he played a half for each side. Was around 1982-ish.

I remember travelling to Easter road for a game V Partick Thistle just to see Best play for Hibs, biggest crowd in Scotland that day and although most likely drunk he was just a different class.

Absolute shame what happened to him.

Pretty sure he also played in a pre-season friendly in 82/83 against Leeds, Well lost 4-0

frankie howard lookalike boyle might play him this season if he can dig him up.
