Thank f**k

Webmeister complaining that after her (delusional) to do with the board, they haven't contacted her since.

Poor wee soul. Its almost as if she isn't as important as she thinks she is. You run a wee pishy website for twats (like me) to waste time while at work. Big cheeps.

Also, hunners of jags fans complaining that the chairman hasn't e-mailed them back after complainig about the boards 'treatment' of the aforesaid webmeister. Do they want him to do any work or just spend his day answering daft point scoring e-mails from pubeless wee know it alls.

God I despair at how many arseholes support Thistle.

It's been a month since I posted the Site Update, and unfortunately, nothing has changed. So ptfc.net will close next month, although there are a couple of options for others to consider to try and keep some kind of independent Jags presence online.
Thanks to everyone who has emailed me about the site in the past month or so, and it's pretty obvious that there is a need and desire for a decent independent website, as many Thistle fans appreciate unbiased coverage of the Jags and the opportunity to keep in touch and feel part of the Thistle community wherever they are in the world. However, as much as I've enjoyed doing ptfc.net for the past ten years or so, I've had enough.

As previously indicated, the core reason for it is that Partick Thistle FC's attitude and behaviour towards supporters has left a lot to be desired at times, and the recent incident when chairman Allan Cowan decided to bar me from post match interviews was just the latest. People move on and forget about it because of their support for their team, but, as the recent WSC's article points out, "Clubs seem to forget the residue of ill-will that lingers after such heavy-handed reactions". In the past month I've heard nothing further from the club (or even the Jags Trust), nothing has changed, and so as of July 31st, ptfc.net will close.

However, in light of the need and desire for something other than the club's own official web presence, there are a few options that people may wish to consider:

ptfc.net closes, but I'll arrange to keep the forum running under a new name (and a new url) and hand over the administration of it to someone else. But there will just be a forum and nothing else, and this would be on a one-year trial basis to see if funding could be sorted.
If someone wants to take over the forum as it is (just the forum not the entire site - under an new name/url) and is willing to pay for a licence for the forum software and deal with hosting costs etc that could be looked at as well.
Someone could take over the running of the entire website temporarily for next season with a view to launching their own website to take over from ptfc.net. The person would need to a) have some website knowledge, cool.gif commit to updating the site regularly for the entire year, c) be fully aware that it is just temporary and I would still own ptfc.net.
In the long term, they would need to build their own site (and not just port a copy of ptfc.net) under a new name & url if they wished to continue - which includes possibly buying the necessary licence for the forum software, and all the relevant hosting, domain name costs etc.
Someone sets up a new website altogether and at the end of next month ptfc.net will just forward people to the new site until the hosting expires.
If anyone wishes to discuss any of these options with me, get in touch via email (using the webmaster at ptfc.net address). If none of these options are taken up, as of July 31st, ptfc.net will simply close. Regardless of what happens, ptfc.net in it's current format, and my part in running the website is over.

Oh, for fooks sake, get over yourself toots. laugh.gif laugh.gif

all these restrictions and conditions on what folk can do with a site she does not want due to 'Heavy handedness' laugh.gif Didnt know they gave her a kicking too. Sounds justified all the same laugh.gif

No change really. The ptfc.net site is basically the forum and if it gets hosted somewhere else the plebs will simply follow it.

I don't know why she just gave in to the board and closed the site though. They have effectively got the better of her with ease.
Maybe there's more to it than she is letting on. rolleyes.gif

Doubt it wink.gif . She's just loving the attention she so obviously craves and hoping another threat to 'close' the site will get her more attention and folk rallying to her ego trip.

For once the PTFC board seem to be getting this one right. The minute they cave to some jumped up self appointed pretend journo they really have lost the plot.

I agree that reading some of the sob story is cringeworthy but the board are wrong imo. They see fit to use that site for making announcements when the going is rough then treat the folk that run it like sh*te when it suits them. It's a great site for info and match reports etc and also has a large exile community that will be screwed until... em.... the next forum opens unsure.gif . Having said that some of the agoraphobic's that seem to live on the forum might get out into the fresh air once in a while now.

PTFC.NET had become too cliquey. IMO an internet forum should be fairly anonymous so that people can express their opinions without any hassle, but that site has a platinum club of its own and anyone who disagrees with them is ganged up on. The board has done plenty wrong over the years, but if they do come up with good ideas they are slagged regardless.
Its time has come and a new forum is overdue.

If you have a website going for 10 years, with a strong core of members, it's always going to get a bit cliquey. The only cliqueyness that annoyed me was when there would be a Gary Twigg topic every few weeks, and people would use as many "funny" tree puns as they could think up.

I use this site more than .net, because it's a bit more varied. .net was good for away games, that I couldn't attend and transfer rumours, so I'll miss that. Hopefully there will be a better website in it's place.

Something will take its place. I read the PTFC.net for the same reasons as youself, but never really felt much like contributing to the debates as there seemed to be a fairly rigid party line that everyone followed and anything that didn't follow that was met with accusations of being a spy from the board. So it always seemed to be us or them with nothing in between.
