well we still need at least 1 left back and still no sign of a big target man mcinnes has been talking about. most our signings other than that appear to be done long ago.
how about the rest of the div 1 teams??????????????

You don't need to wear the New Topic button out dude.
Seriously though. I'd say we're waiting on Douglas as a GK, possibly 1 CB more as cover, RB cover, CM and possibly 1 wide player on either wing.

We already have 2 right-backs in Cowan and Paton.
I think we need 2 CMs as McDonald will be off. Hopefully Snodgrass will sign, if not a winger/striker and a centre half.
4 more plus Douglas

In an ideal world; a couple of centre halves, a natural left back, a flamboyant central midfield player and an auxiliary striker. (Perhaps two).
The above assumes the re-signing of McSwegan & Michael McGowan.

Davie Irons was quoted a few weeks ago as saying that we were after a keeper and a striker and that woudl be it, but with the rumours flying around about Chris Innes signing, who knows what he's thinking.

I would like to think that we might sign a striker and a goallie but with the arrival of Innes (still to be confirmed!) I suspect we will get another goalkeeper and thats it. If our signed strikers can maintain their end of season form, we should be fine.

I still think we should be trying to sign natural full backs, but it's not going to happen. I'm just worried about what'll happen if, in February say, we hit a rotten spell of form, look in relegation trouble, and Irons decides a back 3 isn't working. Walker and McGuffie as full backs? We should be getting players in now to cover all bases.
Obviously we needed another goalkeeper, hopefully one who's better than Colin Stewart.
Another striker would be good, with Graham hopefully being sent out on loan we'll need more back-up, especially if Russell gets injured, as Wake and Weatherson together just wouldn't work at all. Loan signing perhaps?
I also think we could do with another wide player - we have no back up at all for McAlister or Finlayson.

I think wwe could do with another central defender, another midfielder,a wide player for the right and a 4th striker. And hopefully we can keep Kevin McDonald and from what I,ve heard we probably will.

I'd go with that. We've got 2 decent right-backs but desperately need a creative force in midfield with McDonald almost certain to leave. Douglas will be solid enough and good competition for Ludo. I feel the longer the Snodgrass situation drags on the less likely it is that we'll sign him, I live in hope though.

We need at least half a team, but our first game is away to Queen of the South, so there's plenty of time for the guys to introduce themselves to each other on the bus on the way down to Dumfries.

Need a Left back, a Target man and i feel we need another defender someone who could play back up to right/left back which i doubt will come unless someone gets injured (kevin James

) or someone gets suspended (Ando) and we loan a player late in august. I think Dixon is a dead deal so i dunno who will be the 2nd choice as no names seems to appeared or been mentioned, the same with the target man as Bayne seems to be too costly and would prefer a move to the Pars

so anyone know any other targets we are looking into? i think we will be looking more to england for targets now.

The chairman promised 10 new faces, but Noble and MacDougall have re-signed since then, so we're probably looking at another 8, at most.
These would be likely to include:
Left back
Left winger
Right back
Physical central midfielder (ideally x2)
Centre forward x2 (one 6ft plus target man, one nippy wee b*****d in the Noble mould)
If we can sign that lot, we can stay up IMO. That's a very big if at the mo'...

At the moment we have?
Goalkeepers
David Hutton
Peter Cherrie
Defenders
Billy Gibson
Mark Brown
Neil McGregor
Chris Higgins
Midfielders
Ruari MacLennan
Stuart Kettlewell
Ricky Waddell
Alan Trouten
Willie McLaren
Marvyn Wilson
Forwards
Pat Clarke
Dave McKay
Marc McCusker
"Youngsters"
Roddy McLennan
Jordan Murch
David McGowan
Stephen Connolly
Clearly money is, as always, the telling factor but we clearly need additions in both the defensive and attacking areas. McCusker/MacKay are both options that I'm unconvinced about up front and we need at least one good striker. Defensively, we need a natural left back and probably one other, given Bestvina's departure.
Another central midfielder would be nice but would undoubtedly be the least important addition. Surprised nothing's happened with regards to Jimmy Gibson.

Make that seven new signings. We have used part of the budget to sign a Sports Scientist FULL TIME to make our players fitter and have better diets. Didn't think that was the main concern for this season!
Maybe the diets will bulk them up as we must have the most light weight team in the division.

That's a little unfair. You have one striker. Who is also your manager.
I see you've been linked with Cillian Sheridan. If he keeps up his Champ man 07/08 form he'll be a good signing.

Maybe so re; Jim Mac but would rather he was a back up and concentrated the managment side of things.
Cillian Sheridan, from what celtic fans tell me, would be a decent signing. We'd need at least another two strikers aswell tho.

I'm not necessarily against that. For a full time team, our stamina looked suspect against last season's part timers. We can't afford to be lacking in stamina or strength this time around.

As far as I'm concerned Airdrie have made no signings so far, only resigned some of the dross which was not good enough last year.
With the first pre season game only 3 weeks away, it's looking like, as usual, our "new" signings will be the players no one else wants, very occasionally this throws up a decent player - Allan Russell for instance, but more often than not, it's dross to add to our existing dross.
So have a nice season off all the rest you teams expected to be in the "relegation zone" - You only need to perform in 4 games next May because 10th place - by a long, long way I fear - is already booked.
