If I were you Sev, it's maybe more appropriate to worry about who Celtic will sell as opposed to who we have bought.

If you lose McGeady and Boruc and don't replace them with similar quality then that will be as big as any bonus on who we buy, considering the budget we have for new players!

You should be worrying about that more than us I think. wink.gif

I think McGeady will stay. Maybe go after this season. Boruc will go but i think Strachan will sign a good goalkeeper(maybe the croation keeper who looks half decent).

What worries me most about us is that its all strikers we are being linked with and we really need a commanding defender.

My original point in a round about way was that i thought Rangers would sign a better standard of player(but maybe you cant find a Carlos Cuellar every time)

Also meant to say, i think you might find that you wont have as much available for players as you think. Most of the cash will pay off your debt

You lot seem to have some fixation with Rangers debt. Rangers are financially secure and in fact have plenty of money available for transfers as has been seen by the £6 million already spent. Remind me who else was after Lafferty but were outbid tongue.gif

Fair point about Lafferty but i think once even Rangers had made any contact about him then it was a sure thing as he is Rangers daft. If Celtic matched the offer he still would have went to you lot

TBH i wouldn't have minded being outbid here wink.gif I think H_B used the term underwhelming on another thread in relation to Rangers signings. Well i think that is a massive understatement
I just don't see them as quality. Rangers already have an impressive squad and all it needed was 2 maybe 3 real quality signings to move us on. Maybe a left back,Central Defender and an attacking right sided player. I am hoping that come the end of Euro 2008 we sign a couple of top quality players. Time will tell but after spending £6 million already i wonder how much is left or who we sell to make way for these moves.

What surprises me is that I understood Smith's moves last summer, even the likes of Gow and Broadfoot.

He brought in numbers, and many of them were players he knew well, like Weir, McCulloch, Naismith and K Thomson before him and Dailly after.

I thought this time round he would have had a full season to identify a different type of player, ones which would add quality to a numerically strong squad and compliment the solid citizens he has.

3 signings in and you have another 3 "meh" players and are 6 million down.

I'm delighted that Gers have bought Lafferty. The guy has made well over 40 appearances this year and has bagged........wait for it..............9 goals. ohmy.gif

Lets not forget the other part of his game though, he managed to pick up 7 yellows and 1 red card in that time too!

Not exactly a stunning record for a striker I'm sure you'll agree.

Exactly...TBH i am happy enough with Velicka. Proven SPL record decent enough squad player at a million i reckon that is good business. Hopefully see a couple of quality signings sooner rather than later.
I nearly forgot about Steve Davis. They reckon that will be another £4 million...so there is £10 million and we haven't got the much needed partner for Cuellar or an attacking right sided player
khenny
His total for Burnley is 10 goals in 83 apperances!!!

Stunning stuff. Well worth £3m and Gow lmao

I was talking to a Rangers fan in work and he said the same. A centre half and an attacking right sided player was needed. He is also raging at the fact Rangers haven't sent anyone to Euro 2008 this year to check on any players. Is this true?

Just so as we're clear on this. Had we bought him I think it would have been a monstrous mistake!

Not every one of Strachans buys have been good (no manager gets it right every time) but this wudda been a howler I believe.

Also you have slagged off Strachans dealings in the transfer market before so why would gloat tWatty has bid more for one of Strachans targets???? huh.gif

I have some trust in Smith, he'l surely have a few players of decent quality he wil sign before start of season, although so far im not overwhelmed by the 1st 3.

Just so we are clear on this i am not exactly ecstatic about the signing either. I thought that was obvious from what i have said.

I am not sure if this is true but i would like to think that Rangers had targeted signings way before this competition started.

I realised that but the fact you were trying to have a gloat deserved a little slap down IMHO.

Really hope Steven Davis is the next to put pen to paper.

Wouldn't mind if he stayed with the gers to be honest. Didn't think he was all that great. Played well first few games but his performances dropped after the novelty wore off.

OK consider me 'slapped down' wink.gif

By the way who have celtic signed except from re-signing Scott McDonald? If Celtic lose Boruc and McGeady they will struggle to replace them...Well Boruc anyway i am sure McGeady could be easily replaced.

I am not really panicking too much about signings yet as the dealings will start after the Euros are done.

First friendly isn't until 18th July so there is still lots of time.

Would hope that Strachan will make a left back his top priority but would enjoy getting a right back and centre half too.

Not too fussy about Samaras staying so would like a striker aswell.

p.s. can I have a bike too as I have been a good boy all year

Well now you know you don't have to ask again and can remain on subject course.
