Early days as squads are still being assembled, but who do you think will set Scotlands' most competitive league alight in season 2008/2009.
My prediction is Gavin Swankie who will flourish now that he has got a move to a better footballing side that will suit his stlye of play.
All hail Gavin Swankie, the First Division Player of Season 2008/2009.

An insider at the club told me that Gavin never really settled at Dens. He felt that he was unable to show his best form during his time there as he was intimidated by the size of the club and the expectations placed upon him. He much prefered it when he was a big fish in a small pond and that's why he was keen to get a club more akin to his roots at Arbroath. I wish him well and I've no doubt that he will be a stand out at Perth.

I think James would rather be a linesman than a footballer tbh.
Awful player. Would have any one of our centre backs before him, and that's saying something.
PS It'll obviously be Brian Wake. Or Kev MacDonald.

I knew a Morton fan would say something

. We've been through this argument before and I really can't be bothered doing it again.
Bottom line is you played him as a striker and he wasn't very good but he's changed positions and is close to if not the best player in our club.

I'd say it is between three players, Kev McDonald (if he stays), McMenamin or at a long shot Jackson(but i doubt it as he would need to have an even better season than last)

Agreed i personally think far too many people are getting a bit carried away, i mena i think we will do ok next year but i dont see us winning promotion at the moment

i just see another season of dropped points and trying to play catch up. But i hope im wrong.

Thirded. Of the teams left in in the league, we scored the most goals last season and Samuel and Swankie should improve our options but we never really replaced Deuchar and there will be a lot of pressure on Jackson to step it up a level again. Defenders will be a bit wiser to him as well. Defensively though, Dundee, Queens, Dunfermline and Thistle were all better defensively than us and I'm not sure I can see us improving that much in that area but we won't challenge if we concede 45 goals again.
As things stand, I'd say we are third favourites, at best, behind Dundee and Queen of the South.
As for Player of the Year, I'd say Dundee have several candidates (although I hope it isn't McMenamin who I don't think is a great "footballer") and Queens obviously have Dobbie. Liam Buchanan could be an outset bet.

IIRC We only have 6 non-under 19s players atm?
But James McPake will definately be up there if he's not injured.
And yes, he had a bad time at Morton, but whoever said that they'd take Graecen & co instead, quite clearly is biased/really feckign stupid.

From Wikipedia:
QUOTE
Gary "Jeebs" Harkins (born January 2, 1985 in Greenock) is a Scottish footballer who currently plays for Partick Thistle as a midfielder....
...He was loaned out again in February 2005 to Bury, for whom he played five times in a month-long spell. On 12 July 2006, he joined Grimsby Town on a free transfer on a two year contract. However he left Grimsby one year later and joined Scottish First Division club Partick Thistle. He also possesses a very powerful strike and a pair of outstandingly large ears.

I think they are only including the players who were senior players last year. We've promoted a lot of the youth team up and now have 11 players in the first team squad I think (Still no goalie however).
