They were out a few weeks ago. These are the fixtures for early September:

Forres Mechanics v Rothes
Fraserburgh v Brora Rangers
Huntly v Keith
Lossiemouth v Deveronvale
Nairn County v Clachnacuddin

Sat 13/09/2008
The SFA North Region Challenge Cup - Semi Finals

Scot-Ads Highland League
Brora Rangers v Lossiemouth
Buckie Thistle v Fraserburgh
Clachnacuddin v Forres Mechanics
Deveronvale v Nairn County
Fort William v Wick Academy

Judging by your "Clachnacuddin" status it will possibly be away to Nairn and home to Forres for you.

Home to Forres ! unless I can persuade the Mrs to go via Nairn on our Skye to Inverness journey.

now if someone here was to say you could see the Dolphins from the Away End I might just swing that one too smile.gif

Just tell your girlfriend they all died.

same gripe, different season i'm afraid;yet again we have a clash of Scotland games with HFL fixtures, are they being deliberately awkward or is it just incompetence?it certainly isnt going to help address the problem of low crowds.

Possibly a bit of both to be honest. There is a sense of foolhardiness about it - a certain 'reporter' would have you believe that there isn't the capacity to fit a 28 game league season into a single season without clashing with the Scotland games - but we're not supposed to care and it's Scotland that should move. Apparently.

The top two teams in the SHFL have been given fixtures on the same day as the Second Round of the Scottish Cup (despite them both having qualified for that round) whilst the whole of the Highland League has been given Third Round day off at this stage. blink.gif

It is not going to help me get to every Clach game this season, if they don't give the Scotland match weeks off! A bit strange really?

The 'reporter' in question is called John Innes and posts on www.highlandleague.net. Feel free to go over there and question why he wants Scotland to move their KO's so that HFL clubs can kick-off at 15:00hrs on a Saturday.

I do always fail to understand why the HFL constantly puts matches up against Scotland home qualifiers. Bearing in mind you all have floodlights; are almost entirely semi-pro; and have one of the lowest % of games per club per season; why on earth can't you play Thursday / Friday night, or early or late kick-off on the Saturday, or even (shock horror) on Sunday? It is all just principle?

Lossie have played a few games on a Friday night to some success, apparently to the point where we considered doing it just for the hell of it on more weekends. Keith, Forres, Clach, Brora and others have all been accommodating/seen sense and moved games or agreed to play at a different time.

Inverurie Locos, on the other hand, wouldn't even agree to switching KO by two hours on the day we played Georgia in Glasgow during the last campaign, with their 'voice in the press' claiming they couldn't possibly change their players schedule. They aren't alone in this attitude though.

Some of us have complained to the clubs and the press, some of the clubs are as fed up as the supporters with things but for as long as Nairn County and Inverurie Locos (although there are others) continue to act the goat, some folk will miss out.

For anyone who thinks this is all a little stupid, you'll be interested to know we only play 28 league games a season. laugh.gif

am i daft, but has a club pulled out? there was never a club kicking there heals every week was there?????

I don't understand why you have League matches allocated on the dates of the North Challenge Cup (and the Scottish Cup? can't remember) from the 2nd round stage onward. Clubs will win ties on August 9th, and league games will be postponed from August 23rd to play cup ties!! It's crazy.

Why not have:

Aug 02 - League:1
Aug 09 - North Challenge Cup R1
Aug 16 - League:2
Aug 23 - League:3
Aug 30 - North Challenge Cup R2
Sep 06 - *Macedonia v Scotland* League:4 (games Friday-Sunday)
Sep 13 - League:5
Sep 20 - North Challenge Cup SF
Sep 27 - Scottish Cup R1
Oct 04 - League:6
Oct 11 - *Norway v Scotland* North Challenge Cup FINAL (Sunday)
Oct 18 - League:7
Oct 25 - Scottish Cup R2
Nov 01 - League:8
Nov 08 - League:9
Nov 15 - League:10
Nov 22 - League:11
Nov 29 - Scottish Cup R3
Dec 06 - League:12
Dec 13 - League:13
Dec 20 - League:14
Dec 27 - League:15
Jan 03 - League:16
Jan 10 - Scottish Cup R4
Jan 17 - League:17
Jan 24 - League: 18
Jan 31 - League: 19
Feb 07 - League:20
Feb 14 - League:21
Feb 21 - League:22
Feb 28 - League:23
Mar 04 - League:24
Mar 14 - League Cup R1
Mar 21 - League:25
Mar 28 - *Netherlands v Scotland* League:26 (games Friday-Sunday)
Apr 04 - League Cup R2
Apr 11 - League:27
Apr 18 - League:28
Apr 25 - League Cup SF
May 02 - League:29
May 09 - League:30
May 16- League Cup FINAL

Clubs that get knocked out of the North Challenge Cup could advance games up from the spring. Coupled with playing postponed games on Scottish and League Cup weekends, a lot of the clubs would be finished before May. And there would be no cup/league clashes anywhere in the year.

Just an idea.

There are 15 clubs at the moment. Clach are in a tight spot over their ground and its rent but will pull through. Again. Fort are forever spoken of in funereal tones although this is more in the hope they'll quit so teams wont have to travel. Cove are applying for SFL membership.

As for the fixture list propsed by HibeeJibee - you are wasting your time. Its all been done before, time and time again, by several fans of different teams and no ones interested in changing the set up.

The North Challenge Cup Final last year originally scheduled to be played on the same day as a Scotland game. A sponsorless cup in its first season. Way to attract money into the game. laugh.gif

It is ridiculous, club or country, who do you watch? I was at the Buckie v Wick game 2 seasons ago and Scotland played Georgia, there was literally nobody there.
Same again when we went to Clach, Scotland match on, no one there, bet they showed the match in the social club. It would have been the same if Caley were at home that Saturday but you know what I mean.

I couldn't remember if it was Huntly or Cove that came the c**t over the Ukraine game, so I just said 'and others' to avoid shrouding innocent parties in the same hoodie of disgrace as Locos.

get a grip and stop defending the actions of your idiot club,no wonder your mob are unpopular, people just want the oppurtunity of watching both their club and their national team and not having to choose between them, particularly when its completely unnecessary.

Damn it!! I would love to hear the Grant park Ultras have a go at Tokley the Wife beating badger molester. They would give him some stick. They may even attack him - oh joy!!

You reckon we could sneek out for a couple of hours? Get your thinking cap on and if anyone else has any good ideas we can utilise to sneek away from one of our best mates weddings for a couple of hours to see the Lillies take on the shame of Inverness please post them.

Where have I defended the actions of my idiot club? ohmy.gif

There are many many idiot clubs out there that have played games that clash with Scotland matches, Huntly, Locos, Buckie and Nairn included. I'm sure there are other guilty parties and they are all idiot clubs, ok?

Grip got?
Jimmy Shaker
Locos aren't the worst for this. Its a tie between Huntly and Nairn. Nairn refused to move a KO against Forres (approx a dozen miles away) on the day of a Scotland game. Attendance was 115. laugh.gif
