Now the season is over I would be interested to know who were your 3 key or best players this season or missed them when not in the side. For instance I was at Broadwood and was very impressed with Alloa GK has he been key player this season .
WindaeLicker
Allan Russell, Bobby Donnelly, Stephen Robertson. Others may have different opinions.
kilgour11
Craig Wilson, Iain Davidson, Marvin Andrews
Nocturnal Groove
Stevo, and Williams i recon would be in most Ayr fans top 3

The 3rd player id probably have to say Andy Mac, even though he's not played much this season at all through injury, but he is a big player for us when he is in the team.

Got to agree with that. Our three best players.

Agree with that. Wilson hasn't been as good at getting the ball on the deck as i'd have hoped although i'm putting that down to midfield. Davo has been outstanding in defense, generally doing well against every team we have played against. As for Marv, you can argue he is important for good and bad reasons...his wages are important in a bad way as they cost the club big style but he a different class against aerial balls and on set-pieces he can nip in with a few goals.

Okay, so I'm jumping the gun a bit posting on the 2nd Div forum but we'll be here and these players will soon concern you wink.gif

IMO, our three players who are, and will be, our most important next season, in no particular order are;

Paul McManus
(can turn a game, can create the type of goals/chances that most players at this level can't - 2nd top scorer and missed 12 games - I think).

Kevin Fotheringham

(runs the show - every time he plays well, we play well)

Johnny Smart

(3rd Div player of the year, almost error-free, 100% reliable centre half, most skillful centre half we've ever had and a 6-10 a season goalscorer)

I've got Greig McDonald 4th (ultimate utility man and great all-rounder)
Centre Stand Hero

To be fair, the majority of the East Fife fans post on this forum already. Welcome to the 2nd division nonetheless. laugh.gif

Shucks rolleyes.gif
diamondman
Like the cut of Bobby Donnelly's jib and Stuart Noble when he's up for it
Cowans a Square Heed
Paul McMullen- Improved massively over the season probably and our most consistant player.

Ian Thomson- He just never stops trying even when where 4-0 down.

Iain Diack- Although went to Brechin in January he scored a few goals for us and although some people gave him stick he would often prove them wrong.

The Minertaur
Davie Hay, Dougie Hill, Pat Scullion for me!
Paco

Add in a new left back (or indeed Pelosi again) and you have next season's defence. Hopefully.

It speaks volumes though that it is three defenders who are our most important. I like both Weir and Hislop for the sheer effort and workrate they have, but they both need a lazy c**t next to them to stand in the box. We have next to no attacking threat, something which will hopefully this time round be addressed by McGlynn.

Spot on.
Michael W
Wilson and Andrews. I'd also say Silvestro is a candidate, as I think he does the holding role brilliantly.

After the play-offs, Davidson is firmly off the list dry.gif . I'll probably now get threatening PM's for saying that laugh.gif

Not sure about about Silvio, yeh he's a trier, yeh he gets himself about a bit but he's not a midfielder in a million years, limited range of passing and no positional sense.

Campbell in my view should be in there, has been by and large very solid at the back and is the least injury prone of our centre halves laugh.gif

Out with the mistakes in the playoffs, Davo has played very well all season other than the first month or two. An yes, you will no doubt get a few death threats.

stevo williams amd mark McGeown who shouldn't have been released

First six months or so I'd say. He's not a midfielder in a million years- like Silvestro, he can't pass a bloody ball. Silvo has at least realised this though, and doesn't try to play sixty yard passes like Davidson does.

Davidson was very poor in the first few months of the season, then poor up until about Christmas. Since he's moved into centre half he's been excellent, and I like him playing there.

Just don't put him back into midfield. dry.gif

Can't separate 3 from this 5.

Jellema, Townsley, Brown Ferguson, Grant and Wilson

Cant argue with that, excellent news that we have all of those lads signed up for next season.

Yeah since Davo moved back into centre half he has cruised through games to an extent. One of our main problems is too many of our midfeilders will never cut it as midfielders. Every other 2nd division side i have seen this season with the exception of berwick and cowden and maybe ayr look to have a better midfield unit than we do.
