TAKEN FROM AYR ADVERTISER WEBSITE:
Predictions of a mass clearout at Ayr United were proved to be spot-on as EIGHT players were released on Tuesday morning.
Heading for the exit doors are goalkeeper Mark McGeown. Chris Robertson, Craig Pettigrew, David Lowing, David Dunn, Jerome Vareille, Iain Anderson, who has been plagued by injury, and could hang up his boots, and Gareth Wardlaw.

Out of those I'd have thought maybe Wardlaw & McGeown could have been useful squad players at least but losing the rest isn't going to keep me awake at nights!

Great news!
I'm delighted to see the back of every one of them.
The real work starts here (again) and hopefully Reid has a proper idea of the quality required to win the league.
There is no point in changing the faces, the money must be spent wisely bringing in players better than everybody else has.

Disappointed to see Mark McGeown's name included. He fought back well from being demoted twice, well almost twice, and played out the season with a bad back.
Here we go again. Ayr to win the league next season.

Easton and Weaver would be good to get shot of.
I hope to hell we get a quality goalie in.
Wardlaw was offered a contract and refused it as is signing for Raith Rovers. The reason for leaving Ayr is the travelling involved.

I'm surprised about McGeown getting punted to be honest.Thought he'd be good to have about as cover.
Hope he finds a club as he deserves it.Same goes for Jerome,Pettigrew and Gaz.

...and if you read Raith fanttalk there is the conflicting rumour that he has held talks with Brechin and heard nothing from raith, given that the club seems to want to wait to know which league they are budgeting for first then I don't expect any kind of movement before saturday at the earliest...

Whichever team he goes to, Wardlaw will provide plenty of effort and probably 10-15 goals if he is given a chance.
The big man was excellent for us in his first season and a half but he got a few injuries and seemed to lose his form a wee bit. I wouldn't keep him as we are in need of a clear out but I fully expect him to score against us next season.

I'd apply that to Robbo as well as he seemed to suffer when we moved him from striker to centre half.Wasn't he going for top scorer with Gaz and Jerome that season until he got moved?

No thanks Robertson every time I have seen him has layed in a different position and looked clueless in each one, as for Wardlaw at 27, if he is a forward he should be banging them in.

Wardlaw's brother says that Gareth actually loses money playing for Ayr due to the cost of travelling and missing out on shifts at his work. I think he'd be much more settled on the east coast and you might see a better player than we have this season.

The clearouts been long over due, i mean most of those going were connor's signings. We've had pretty much the same team for 3 years with a few exceptions.
Sorry to see a few go, with McGeown and Varielle, i think its just an age thing, and hopefully Reids building a squad for the long term, not just next season.
Of the others, apart from Wardlaw maybe, i'd be suprised to see any of them playing at a higher level than Juniors next season.
