Was in Glasgow two weeks ago and saw some floodlights. At home I discovered that the ground was Shawfield. Does anybody know how it looks today? Is it still like in the 80's or did the greyhoundclub demolise alot?

Was there for the Greyhounds last October and it wouldn't need much work to bring it upto Cliftonhill / Firs Park standards but apart from the main stand it's been a hell of a neglected over the past 20 years.

For what reason(s) did Clyde stop playing there?

I thought the guys with the Greyhounds kicked them out of the ground. They owned the ground.

This is my recollection, although perhaps a Clyde fan can provide an accurate answer if I'm talking keech.

The stadium closed in 1986 to be demolished and replaced by a supermarket (ASDA?). After a wee while this plan went tits up and it was announced that the ground would be reopening. The problem for Clyde was that the owners of the stadium decided that speedway would be more profitable than football, so, a speedway track was cut inside the dog track which meant that the remaining turf in the middle was not big enough for a football pitch, so Clyde were screwed.

As I said at the start of my post, I may be being inaccurate (I was 12 years old at the time) but I'm sure this was (roughly) the story at the time.
