True - but he is good enough to get full-time offers so dont bank on getting him. For example, he is better than anything the Townies have.
However, he is a Cowden legend and if we are in the same League as Alloa next season, who knows what he will decide. After all, the Alloa fans thought he was shite and they wont have changed their minds.

I've heard rumours he'll be heading to the Rovers in the summer although it depends on if a few of our midfielders player well in our next two/four games. Would take him of course.

I have honestly heard nothing of the sort. He would be a decent signing though.

He was really shite when he was with us before.
I'll take the word of the Cowden fans that he is a better player now but all I can go on is the games you've played against Alloa this season. I didnt see anything outstanding and he's been part of a defence that shipped 8 goals in 3 games to us. If by some miracle we get promoted I think we should be looking at better players.
if he gets offered a decent contract from cowden (naturally if we stay up this would help) he will stay with cowden. there are other offers for him tho and im sure there are some good wages being thrown at him.

Didn't he play left back for you? He's been a standout for us in central defence for the las three seasons. This season, because of injuries to key players, we've rarely had a settled defence - Dougie has been outstanding.
HE also got played left midfield by the then manager (dont know who it was) by far a much better centre half but has really grown by playing with centre halfs like innes ritchie + gary smith. Welshy was also a no bad defender in his day so im sure he will be passing on good things to DH.
Dougie Hill played left back and left wing-back when he was with us and I was pretty happy when we let him go. Having seen him at Cowdenbeath, however, I've been impressed by his transformation into a good left-footed centre-half. Whilst I think Cowdenbeath fans over-rate him slightly (recognising, however, that they see him week in and week out) I'd be pretty happy if we signed him, although I do think he'll be holding out for an offer of full-time football.

Going to Cowdenbeath has been good for Dougie. He had been released by Falkirk and Alloa, but Cowden gave him a run in central defence and he blossomed in that position, as Nelly says playing alongside good players. He came into his own in the championship-winning season, and was a big threat at set pieces. I can't imagine he'll want to play in the third division, but if we stay up and Cowden can offer him a decent deal, he could still be at Central Park next season.

Was speaking to Dougie at award dance sat night and he said he has still no idea where he will be playing next season, there has been 1st and 2nd division club enquiries but nothing definite.
So c'mon Cowden, get the finger out and get a 3 year contract offered, if its good enough for Welsh then its more than good enough for Dougie

I thought that you had Innes Ritchie and John Ward as your Centre Halfs in your Chamionship winning season??
we did but innes missed a few through injury and suspension. Ward played in all of them apart from last one (he must have been gutted) but when dougie came in he was immense. But if innes was back he was naturally back on the bench. But whenever called upon he was fantastic like.

I'll second that! If we are still in the Second Division next season the last thing we want is for him to sign for another club in the same league. However, I've got a funny feeling he'll be playing in the First Division next season, not with Alloa or Raith though.

Took a couple of our midfielders as well in recent years, Craig " Toorie " Winters and Gary Fusco. Could have done with either of them to add a bit of steel to our midfield today against the smokie cloggers!

Don't think he's at the club now. Haven't seen him for ages! He was signed as backup when Wardy was injured. We had another 2 decent players in that position and he never really got a look in especially when Ward was fit. Must have moved on.

I'll get on the phone to McGlynn and tell him Cowden want Winter, i reckon the deal would be done in about 5 seconds if Welsh actually wanted our superstar 'steel' midfielder.
Welsh "So how aboot Winter? How much you want for him?

Dougie would be better staying at Cowden - if they make him a decent offer - if a bigger club comes along they will not stand in his way. To go to Brechin would be a mistake, several Cowden players have gone their in recent years and gone no further!
Fusco, Ward, White and Hughes (Albion Rovers now I think) So if Dougie wants lots more travelling for a few extra quid (maybe) well maybe he should go.

Well maybe thats because they are happy at Brechin. I know for a fact that some of them have had other offers but chose to stay. They also have jobs outside football. The manager is popular with the players and the club has an excellent reputation for looking after their players.

They are also on decent wages for this division. Training is this side of the Forth and at Perth. No hardship there then!

Yes that is probably true but Cowden have had more players who have gone on to play at a higher level than Brechin have. In fact I can't think of any. I'm sure if an SPL or First Div. team made an offer for any Brechin players they'd be off.
The offers you are taking about weren't from the new "Gretna" by any chance?
dougie just wants to play at the highest level possible. 3rd division is too good for him.Why shouldnt he go to brechin or alloa. they are better than us.He will get more money also. Dougie will be leaving that im 95% sure of.

Agree with you Nelly but he isn't away yet. He is the sort of player you could build a team round. Cowden should make him an offer he couldn't turn down. That would be a win/win situation.

trust me cowden made him an offer and it was ridiculous For a player like dougie and that was before we were relegated hate to think what it would be now.Dougie will be leaving that im 95% sure of. you are right though cowden should make him an offer and make him our highest paid player. That's because you are selling players who are young and do not have other good jobs that they would have to give up! Two of our squad of players have had other really good offers but have chosen to remain with Brechin. Others have had a lot more money thrown at them and have decided to stay. Some from the other Gretna but not all.

dont know about that. However i can confirm dougie is no longer a cowden player. I for one am gutted but not with dougie. He has shown nothing but 100% commitment to cowdenbeath and he dearly wanted cowden to stay up if we stayed up he most likely would have stayed.
