Perhaps not answering the question, but the following players were attached to SPL/SFL sides in 2007-08 and were definitely born in Greenock. There may be others.

Michael Paton (Aberdeen, loaned to Brechin)
Mark Millar (Celtic)
Jason McLaughlin (Dumbarton)
Kevin Struthers (East Stirlingshire)
Mark McLaughlin (Hamilton)
Neil McCann (Hearts)
Darryn Kelly (Montrose)
David MacGregor (Morton)
Scott McKellar (Morton)
Craig Black (Morton)
Dave MacLeod (Morton)
Lee Mitchell (Morton)
Gary Loughran (Morton)
Alan Gilbride (Morton then Stenhousemuir)
Mark Archdeacon (Motherwell)
Gary Harkins (Partick Thistle)
Nicholas Gallagher (Rangers)
Craig Molloy (St Mirren)
David Barron (St Mirren)
Sean Crighton (St Mirren)
Paul Quinn (St Mirren)

Then there are the two boys from the other side of the water, Morton's Jim McAlister (Rothesay) and QOS's Neil MacFarlane (Dunoon).

Andrew Glancy now plays Sunday league for my former team, managed by my cousin haha. Infact, I think he's moved elsewhere now.

Stuart Rafferty is a football coach for the council I think.

Was John Boag the ex-Morton man that died in the past year or so ?

Do you have access to players born in Dumfries at all?

Off the top of my head I can only think of -

Barry Nicholson (soon to be Ex-Aberdeen)
Wullie Gibson (Killie)

Was Chris Doig who moved as a youngster from Queens to Nottingham Forest a Doonhamer?

Of course our most famous player is Ted McMinn who I believe grew up in either Lochside or Lincluden (areas of Dumfries) but he was actually from Castle Douglas.
