Was at the game yesterday, although Caldwell had a decent enough game i still worry that our defence will give away daft goals in the final few games. Mick and Caldwell still do not do enough for me

Thought the second half was one of the better games for Caldwell, I'm not a fan to be honest, Mcmanus was worse IMO. Two goals from corners, Balde would not have let Cousin get a look in...might have gave away a couple of penalities mind you laugh.gif

We deperately need a top class defender for next season for our CL challenge. Of course Rangers much vaunted defence has lost about 20 goals in the last 8 games. Make of that what you will

I doubt that...Rangers were certainly not getting a penalty Yesterday.

Getting back to the point though...What has happened to McManus? He is the 1 player i would have had at Ibrox....I thought he was a great big no nonsense defender but it seems he has totally lost all confidence.

Not that i am complaining the more mistakes the merrier. wink.gif

I don't think we won a high ball agisnt Cousin first half, having said that I think we have one of the best defensive records in the SPl if not the best

Rangers have scored more goals per game in the league than any other...Do you think that is down to Mr Smiths free flowing cavalier attitude to the game? Just using this example to show goal scoring Stats can be misleading wink.gif

Both players simply are not good enough. This isn't something that has just creeped in recently.

Very true. I would like to see O'Dea given his chance next season along with a good signing in the summer

Rangers highly acclaimed defence hasn't been intact for much of the last few games. Make of that what you will.

I think McManus escapes a lot of media flak, as does our skipper. 2 of them aren't great to be honest, but McManus won't be dropped. Caldwell has been really good in the last 2 OF games I thought.

I thought Gary Caldwell was immense yesterday, I'm not his biggest fan but 2nd half he was tremendous, with ten mins to go all Rangers did was lump the ball at Cousin and gary won every single ball. When Mcmanus went off and he was Captain he seemed to grab the game and just was not letting Rangers past. Even first half, although Cousin won a quite a bit in the air, in my opinion it was all through Mcmanus. Cousins header first half was in Mcmanus' area and should have been dealt with. And Weir's goal was all down to our idiotic zonal marking, as so many teams have shown up, any defenders getting a run at a header should beat our defence.

We have a defence!

When did that happen?

Agree with most of this.

1. Caldwell was fantastic yesterday, won every aerial ball (except at the corners but to that in a moment), made one superb tackle on Cousin in the box and had great distribution the whole game.

2. McManus wasn't poor yesterday, he was decent, but this has certainly been his poorest period in a Celtic shirt since Strachan came in. I think the captaincy may have taken his mind off his defensive duties somewhat, as he has been much better than this in previous seasons. As I said though, he did enough yesterday.

3. Zonal marking at corners is really beginning to annoy me. We don't concede that many at corners but it's so so easy counter, and much easier for the attacked team to win a ball when the other defenders are standing still. And we should have had a man on the near post at both goals.

I must admit, im the first to criticize Gary Caldwell... i dont think he is much of a player at all, but he was class on sunday.

i still dont think he's good enough to keep a starting place every single week but hats off to the big man for sunday.

I think McManus might be awrite next season if he plays along side a more experienced defender, too many school boy errors in my opinion.

bring back bobo!!!

As a unit the defence just isn’t good enough as we have said time and time again. Captain Marvel is anything but though in a way I feel sorry for Caldwell – he clearly is limited in ability yet he continually gets thrown into the team ahead of others. Sunday was the best we will see from him but in all honesty I hope that’s his last huns game. The full-back situation isn’t looking good either. Naylor is just average beyond belief and Hinky Winky went into hiding several times on Sunday which is not a good sign. Young Caddis can certainly consider himself unfortunate to find himself sitting on the bench or in the stands most weeks

Is big Mick injured for Saturday? He always seems to be Celtic's biggest threat at set pieces at Fir Park, scores against us all the time.
Would be relieved if he was, as I think it would give us a boost going into Saturday. McCormack running at Caldwell is like fishing with dynamite for the wee man, Caldwell will need to fone rape crisis on Saturday nite. I still don't fancy us at set pieces, we cannae clear a ball from a cross at the minute, big Vinegar could have a field day if we don't get it sorted as Robson and Nakamura's delivery from set pieces are fantastic
