He's right on many levels though
Captain_Sensible
Walter Smith is half right.

The SPL and the SFA do indeed favour Celtic. They also equally favour Rangers.

C'mon the Fiorentina! I can't wait to see those police batons getting stuck into the huns in Florence next week. laugh.gif

"Smith believes Celtic have benefited from the SPL's attempted appeasement and considers the Celtic chief executive to have been insincere in his intentions.

"The sporting integrity' situation has given me a good laugh," said Smith. "Peter Lawwell seems to be the head of the sporting integrity committee, as chairman and head spokesman.

"He would have been better saying Rangers should play four games in a week to suit his team and help their quest for the championship."

Never a truer word spoken.

"If it was the other way, I would have been the same, but you are as well being honest rather than trying to hide behind the euphemism of sporting integrity".

Hardly paranoia.

If only Rangers weren't such two faced b*****ds ,Mr traitors rant might be more plausible.
Smith has been saying for weeks in the press that Rangers don't want any favors and do not want an extension! Then 5 Min's after the extension announcement the Huns release statements condemning it calling it a disgrace , blaming Celtic , accusing the SPL haven't helped the Huns?
Does that sound like a club that didn't want an extension?... no sounds like a bunch of paranoid two faced lying huns laugh.gif

Now, now `da!
There`s nothing wrong in changing your mind. It doesn`t mean you are lying and it certainly doesn`t mean your paranoid.

You should take something for that `bitterness` flu you have.
It will eventually get the better of you and then there might be no way back! wink.gif

The SPL is ran by idiots, but idiots who are dominated by the old firm.

The time to sort out guidance on this situation is at the start of the season not mid way thro it when there is a fight on to win it.

Football is not a level playign field and more often than not the old firm have the advantage so my sympathy is short.

Is it fair for instance that when Rangers play a part time team in the cup that some of their players might have to do a full shift before the game ? does anyone care ? no cos its up to each team how they make their squad arrangements and to work around the fixtures.

The problem is whilst everyone wants to see a Scottish team do well in Europe , you cant help them in the UEFA without aiding them in the league right at the crunch.

Rangers play Queens in the cup and their season finishes tomorrow and will be out of action for 4 weeks, are Rangers proposing to move the cup final in the interests of sporting intergrity ?

You may feel aggrieved about the Old Firm but if Hamilton are fighting relegation next season ( not that I hope they are) and they need Rangers or Celtic to win against one of your rivals in the fight to stay in the SPL, you might be glad of the Old Firm then.

On football matters, the OF are always the bad guys until you need them. And many teams have needed them for a favour at some point, for one reason or another!

Does everyone want to see a Scottish team do well in Europe though? If the SPL does it has a funny way of showing it.

The Phil O'Donnell postponement, monsoon weather conditions and cup replays, are hardly problems of Rangers making. Yet, it seems, we have no support from the league's governing body in trying to go on and be the first SPL team to win the UEFA cup.

Seems to me, that it's preferable for the SPL to appease the serial victims than it is to aid an other SPL team to European success.

"sporting integrity" my arse.

This is what is so utterly laughable. The huns were eager for weeks to make out that they never asked for any extension nor wouldn't. Then as soon as one was given, they complained that the extension, the one they didn’t ask for, wasn’t enough. Utterly hilarious unless of course maybe, just maybe the huns actually did pressure the SPL (or rather one or two individuals) to extend the league.

His rambling on about the Celtic fixtures would indeed indicate to me that he is beginning to feel the pressure – given how distinctly average his rangers side is, that would normally be understandable. However, given we are no better and the huns have so much of an advantage over us in the SPL, then it does seem strange.

I am not sure Peter Lawell will go down the route of making a personal attack on Walter Smith though. Unsurpassed dignity and all that, eh?

You know it never fails to amaze me how some Celtic fans manage to turn almost any situation in to the powers at be not treating the club/ personnel fairly.

Of course there have been many instances in the past where this paranoia is justified but there are decisions that dont go Rangers way as well.

Lawell will be chuffed that his comments have got to Wattie. He is losing the plot if he thinks that League are bending over backwards to help Celtic. He may see this as motivation for tomorrow but I think his reaction might help the Cetic players realise that the huns are flapping.

A win tomorrow will increase Watties delusion and have his players shitting themselves.

I don't think Walter is worried in the slightest about Celtic...No matter what Celtic do Rangers have their fate in their hands...Ok Celtic and the SPL have made it as difficult as possible but it will make the success all the sweeter for them wink.gif

His comments will further intensifie the bad feeling on the pitch and I think we will see a bad tempered match.
He should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute hopfeull he will be found guilty of this just before the Dundee Utd game.

Liewwell has been gibbering about this for weeks...What pressure could he be under? His teams season was over after Motherwell beat them. biggrin.gif

Rangers fans are now showing signs of doubt for the first time this season and so is Wattie if he gets beat tomorrow this will continue.
You are right to say that the Motherwell game was significant but there is still football left to play and if the now improbable happens it will be the same feat as 1986.
If Wattie does win the league and the consolation cup I think he will move upstairs.
There is no pressure on Celtic as they had no hope after the Motherwell game now the Huns can only throw it away.

Any mention of the non offside given against Hibs today?
