I went along to the Edinburgh Partick Thistle Group Meeting last night where McCall and Britton were answering questions. I was peaking to McCall and he told me the following:
Thistle will not be lying down to Morton tomorrow.

Thistle wan to win and want to finish 5th rather than 6th.

Both Thistle are hoping Liam Buchanan is going to make a comeback for the final half an hour tomorrow. Liam is determined to play to try and make a comeback and Thistle do want him to play but the final wont be made until saturday itself by the club physio/doctor. If the physio/club doctor says no then obviously they will not risk him, but if he is able to be at all fit then they will play him for 30 mins, right now he is not fit enough to last longer.

Partick Thistle are not signing any Clyde players at all. He doesnt know where the rumours came from. He really wanted Imrie to play for the Jags and would love to buy McGregor. However Imrie went to ICT and with Championship and SPL teams after McGregor we wont be able to sign him.

How interesting. huh.gif

Firstly, McCall is unlikely ever to say "We will lie down". He would get slated/sacked/beaten up. Did you ask him if they would "try their hardest"? That might be a more pertinent question than will they lie down.

Secondly, according to many Thistle fans when we beat you last weekend. The players weren't trying due to the match being meaningless and so on so what would the difference be this weekend? I would put a large wedge on Morton for the away win. It's a no brainer.

I'd suggest he's equally unlikely to say "the players will not be trying their hardest on Saturday" for the same reasons.

I would agree with you but it's more likely to be the truth.

laugh.gif These Championship and SPL teams must be looking for a new goalkeeper after his goalline handballs.
McGregor has been a liability this season when he hasnt had big Craig in the team to direct him.
Craig McKeown was the pick of our defence and how nobody bigger than Dundee went after him is surprising.

So when Morton win, that will be Thistle trying their best?

Set himself up for a fall there didn't he? Thought McCall was more media savvy than that.

Point 1: What did you expect him to say, he would get arrested for match fixing if he admitted that Thistle would lie down to Morton!

Point 2: Buchanan is of no relevance to us.

Point 3: Good, I hope we can keep Mikey. There was no way that if we stay in the division we will lose McGregor without a decent chunk of cash coming our way so that rumor was totally retarded.

I would say he very much is, since he greatly increases our chances of actually scoring a bloody goal.

Yep, its been tough going without him in the side. Think Thistle's scoring record is around 1 goal every 3 or 4 games since he got injured. Encouraging for Morton fans I would think (if he doesn't play at all, even if he gets 30 minutes he won't be fully fit, obviously).

Buchanan has played no less than seven times against Morton in the last two seasons (five times for Cowdenbeath) and has yet to even come close to scoring a goal. Vastly overrated player IMO. rolleyes.gif

"no FEWER"

And just because he hasn't scored against Morton doesn't mean he isn't a good player. He has simply saved his goals for playing better teams.

For all that Buchanan's failed to hit the net against us, I still feel he's a very good player at this level who always poses a threat and I'll be much happier if he's not in the team tomorrow than I would be otherwise.

I was saying as soon as last season ended that we should try and sign him, but no, McInally thought it was better to chase after John Sutton. rolleyes.gif

actually "names of people and names of places" inadequately covers "proper nouns"

Score or not, I've been impressed with the wee guy. In a decent team, he'll have more chance of scoring. He played in a crap Cowdenbeath team, and always seemed to be the only threat. Him -v- Russell? Him IMHO.

A what?

I havent seen us 'do one of them' since the Hoor winner againt Dundee. I left the Stirling game with 2 minutes to go so we could rush to catch the end of the Arsenal Liverpool game which according to my phone was a damn site more interesting than the show at Firhill.
