Good to see we might keep Curier. Didn't ever think that we would be considering going part time anyway. I'm actually more worried than reassured by them coming out with that, makes me wonder how close we are to staying in full time footie. Scary stuff!

I think it's more a reaction to the speculation, correct move from Brannan IMO.

Clyde pay the equivalent of part-time wages and there are always players wanting to prove themselves whatever the level of wages. Alternatively, the club continues with a smaller squad.

It mentions having financial troubles, I take it this is a result of over spending this season as there weren't any last year?
Plus its good to see Rae has started building for next season.

Do Dundee fans think they'll be in financial trouble if they don't get up next season? And how much do you think next seasons budget will be reliant upon McDonald's transfer fee?

Where have you been the last few years? For all intents and purposes we still have a large debt to service. Anyway, for "problems" I read more like "contraints". We can't speculate to accumulate anymore (thank feck) so consequently we have to run a very tight ship these days. The fee for Kev will be a major factor IMO.

Glad to hear some positive news coming out of Dens after all the doom and gloom lately. The attempt to keep Curier shows the club is already working towards putting a side that can challenge next season together. It seems certain that we will lose McDonald in the summer and if some of that cash will be invested in keeping Curier then I think it's a great move.

Very happy to hear that we may be keeping Curier as I didn't think that would be remotely possible given his form and interest from other clubs.
The financial trouble thing doesn't worry me too much, everyone knows we aren't out of the woods yet. FFS, it was only a few years ago that we were in administration. Without any serious financial backing, we shouldn't expect to be financially safe for a while yet. Recovering from the almost fatal blow of administration is a long process when you have no major investors.
I have actually been hearing that next year has to be our year or the financial problems being rumoured will hit us badly.
Re. the signing of Curier, the statement looks like a piece of positive spin to me.
Obviously Dundee fans will be hurting because their team has just lost out on the league and these feelings will no doubt have been exacerbated by the rumours regarding both the teams financial situation and the players that might be leaving.
What better way to lift the mood than by coming out and saying that you've made an offer to the player that scored so many goals duriing his spell at the club. Do Dundee seriously think he'll sign? I don't think so, but judging by the posts on this thread, this very obvious PR move seems to have served its purpose.

Why wouldn,t he sign,he said he was happy at dens and if he has recieved a decent offer as brannan has said he may accept it.He may have options in the spl and may pick them but you never know.Nothing new about our financial problems and we knew players would be leaving so nothing new there either,I,m sure alex rae had a good idea who would be leaving anyway and has already lined up talks with 3 players for next season.

The fact that they've made the approach to keep Curier shows ambition on the club's part. The press release may be a PR move but it's still good to see some positive news. It was to be expected that the club would move to allay fears of financial turmoil after the amount of speculation about administration. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't sign if he feels the offer Dundee have made to him is acceptable as he has previously said he would like to stay at Dens.
