First, this isn't necessarily the last year of it, no decision has been made and choice lies with UEFA.
Second, the UEFA Cup Qualifying rounds count for next to diddly-squat in Co-efficient. Just because the tabloid press/Sportsound imply it will damage 'the co-efficient' doesn't mean that it's true. Celtic getting pumped out of the Champions League by the third best team in Bratislava did more damage to the co-efficient than Hibs, Kilmarnock, Livingston, Dunfermline, Dundee Utd and Gretna combined.
To be fair, that's a load of crap.
Celtic added 1 point to the co-eff that season which, remarkably enough, is the same as two of those teams combined (from the last two years). It was also the same total produced by two of the other teams involved from Scotland that very same season. Dunfermline have had two cracks at the whip in recent seasons and managed to accumulate a grand total of...wait for it... 1 point.
Oh, wait a minute, I see you've put combined in there. Are you meaning Celtic's one point in one season is less than all those teams in the last 6 seasons combined?
Edited to add: I have no qualms over a cup runner-up getting into Europe. I know of at least one team **looks across to the west** that's benefited greatly from this
