Today's semi-final is the first time Queen of the South have played live on TV. (Shame the game couldn't be a bit more exciting laugh.gif )

Anyway, which Scottish league clubs have never played live on TV? All the SPL teams and and I'm guessing most of the 1st Division ones will have at some point (the likes of Dunfermline, Dundee, St Johnstone, Livi, Partick definitely have).

You can definitely include us in your list.

However, I do have vague memories of us being the main game on Sportscene in our First Division season in 89/90 (against Clydebank at Broomfield if I recall correctly, as Cliftonhill was being upgraded). The Premier League must have had a free weekend.

I had a list on a thread on this site a few years ago when I was irritated about being the highest ranked team by miles never to have been on live tv. Obviously that changed yesterday. I'd imagine the thread was cut in one of Div's big thread purges though so I doubt it could be found.

I think we established at the time that about 12 teams had never been on live and most of them were in the thrid division. Everyone in the top two divisions has certainly been on now (except maybe Stirling Albion?).

As for the rest, I can recall watching live games involving Airdrie (ok it was Airdrieonians but still), Ross County, Raith Rovers, Ayr United, Berwick Rangers, Stranraer, Forfar Athletic

Teams that may not have been: Stirling Albion, Alloa Athletic, Brechin City, Peterhead, Queen's Park, Cowdenbeath, East Fife, Montrose, Arbroath, Elgin City, Stenhousemuir, Albion Rovers, Dumbarton, East Stirlingshire.

That's 14. Anyone confirm that any of those sides HAVE been on live at some point or another?

I used to have a video of called something like "101 goals of the season 88/89" and Rovers were definitely featured on it and pretty sure it was at Cliftonhill although not sure who the opponents were. Almost certainly not a live game but i really like the fact that Sportscene were covering leagues other than the Premier Division back then.

Queen's Park has the distinction of being the first Scottish club to feature on television. The date was March 1951, when they played a televised friendly match against the famous london amateur side, Walthamstow Avenue F.C. The Spiders won the game 2-0, courtesy of a Derek Grierson double.

Definitely remember Arbroath playing Rangers at Gayfield, live on SKY.

Im pretty sure Stirling have never had a live game on tv - def not since late 80's anyway.

I think we might of been live on Celtic TV when we played them earlier in season in Scottish Cup at Parkhead. I watched it through an illegal stream through the net so im not sure and Im not sure if that counts?

Stirling Albion have been on live but not for a full game. The extra time in the League Cup 2nd leg against Celtic at Parkhead was shown live in 1980.

Yeah i remember watching that. I think after a piss-poor scoreless first half, the game somehow finished 4-3 to the Bankies.

You'll have picked up the live feed, used for the Sportscene and Celtic TV pictures, but it wouldn't have been shown live, except at Pacific Quay.
