Just wanted to wish all the Morton fans a happy 20th anniversary. Yes, it is indeed 20 years since your team last graced the top league in Scotland (and to be fair, it looks like 20 years before you do again).

Out of interest, how many games have we played you since then, and out of interest how many of those did you win?

Anyway, no hard feelings, as VikingTon was so keen to remind us of a one off victory years ago, I thought I might remind you of your position in the leagues.

20 years, though.. ohmy.gif ...that really is shocking considering the support/size of the club that is always claimed.

I can field that one...4 league games, 1 League cup, 1 Challenge cup

Played 6, Saints wins 5, draws 1 laugh.gif

Didn't realise just how bad our cup record against you was ohmy.gif

League record is pretty close though, not much in that. Shame that it doesn't look like we'll get the chance to improve these stats any time soon...

Hrm...what might "other" be? Can't be the Challenge Cup because we've beaten them on both occasions we've met in that competition.

Did we ever play in the Anglo-Scottish Cup?

Big club, big incompetence.
If we get through this season I fancy us to be challenging within a few more years. rolleyes.gif

This thread is your fault, btw. If you didn't come crowing up into the SPL forum, I wouldn't have needed to set the record straight.

I'm not bothered at all by it. rolleyes.gif
Set the record "straight" by all means.
Still doesn't make the 5-1 shafting any less funny. biggrin.gif

Aye Ric - because watching us this season i had no idea that we are currently (and have been for many years) complete horseshite.
Good to see the stats clearing that wee conundrum. rolleyes.gif
Come back when you can at least score against the dead club. laugh.gif
Gretna (Full strength) 0 Morton 3
Gretna (delapidated no-hope XI) 0 St Mirren 0

No you haven't, we drew once - at the end of the game of football the Challenge Cup semi final was a 0-0 draw.

A victory on penalties should not count as a victory in the game of football.

Shhh. wink.gif

But seriously, I would be saying the same thing if it was Morton that won a shootout - not that we ever do. rolleyes.gif

I tell you, that was a wonderful night. Winning the damned thing seemed an anticlimax. To watch us play unbelievably bad for 120 minutes only for you to fluff your penalties had me crying tears of laughter. You should have won that game easily, but in the end the bigger team took the prize.

20 years Viking me ol' mucker. 20 years. In fact I even wonder if you were alive when Morton were last in the top league. I saw my club win the Scottish cup just over 20 years ago. That puts the relevant sizes of clubs into perspective... wink.gif

Ah, so you've beaten Gretna today have you? laugh.gif
I think its fair to restrict nostalgia to say, a 10 year cap, no?
Pfft, its a shame that misses out St Mirren's little glory moment there. wink.gif

Fair enough. How about 3 years of the SPL, 2 First Division Championships, 1 Challenge Cup, still competing at the highest level and never below the second tier of Scottish football.

Now, tell me how Morton have got on in the last 10 years... tongue.gif

btb
As I've said elsewhere this is not even in my worst 10 Saints games ever. We lost a coupla late goals when we went chasing an equaliser but it was a bit of a freakish result.

Doesn't hurt as much as the recent St. Johnstone game when we were well beaten by a mid table First Division side with mainly journeyman players.

The game against your lot that really hurts would be the 4-1 game at Love St. in 95/96 - the only time in the last 30 years when you've had a better side than us.

.........or plenty others I could name - Happy Anniversary Lads! beerchug.gif

See my next post after the one you quoted gentlemen. Not a word of a lie. smile.gif

It's taken me 10 minutes to actually post this without a typo due to the amount of alcoholic beverages consumed on this fine night, but I still truly mean what I say.
