Great clip. The type of ball used in those days was a lot heavier and made for a different game. No Howden End or enclosure at the Distillery End, so I wonder when these were built? Have to say, (pleasantly) surprised at the result of this game as Clach were a very strong team at this time

Interesting to see the old main stand - can't have been long before it burned down. The distillery looks huge.

Peterhead won the league in 48/49 - the 1st of 3 in a row. This Qualifying Cup Final clip is from the following season, 49/50, and was the 2nd of 3 Qualifying Cups in a row for Caley. Caley were to beat Peterhead an astonishing 8-1 in the following years final.

It's quite funny you guys call it the Howden End there. When was Howdens even built? laugh.gif

I've been hunting for old pictures of Grant street when the place had 2 enclosures and the stand, cant see anything online, are there any in that book of yours Loki?

Rod Clyne wrote a Clach centenary book and guess there might be pictures of the Grant Street enclosures in it.

Dear old Rod Clyne, great football man, I see his brother Douglas has retired from the Kirk and settled in Nairn.
