Our hosts, iForumer, accidently allowed the domain name that this site is located (iforumer.com) to expire. Therefore a 'placeholder' page was all that visitors would have seen between around 4am (I believe) and noon today.

Further delay would have been experienced by some users as the Domain Name System used to 'propagate' across the net can have delays in different locales as the internet updated itself. For example Eddie was able to get onto the LFCM around noon whilst I had to wait until around 2.30pm before I saw something different from the placeholder page. It can take up to 48 hours to update in severe cases, so there may be some users who still can't see this site, but it will come back to them.

It may take up to 48 hours for some people as the DNS issue resolves itself. The hitcount is pretty much up to average for a Sunday now so I think most users should be able to get on now. I note that a proxy IP address used by several of our members hasn't appeared on my lists for today, so that particular group may still be experiencing issues. Depends on the ISP.

Apart from the obvious reason for that, it's AOL customers that are affected by this due to a poor DNS resolution that they offer. Time to change your ISP.
