Wrong punishment entirely - points deductions should have been the order of the day. No need to punish clubs out of existence.

Agreed, or at the very worst at least give them time to pay the fine........

Think Dalkeith were asking for trouble appointing PD with his previous record rolleyes.gif

I understand both clubs are appealing, can anyone confirm?

I also understand Dolan has left Dalkeith, which isn't surprising.

Did Dolan not come in along with the entirety of an amateur team (Redpath Albion?) in the summer? Where does that leave them? Will they all head back to them?

The Rose played Dalkeith at the start of the season and it's quite apparent that funds - public I presume - have been invested in new changing rooms and stuff. I can't imagine anyone would want to see the whole thing go to the wall.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the punishment although it is a bit steep. I think it will be reduced on appeal. You can't have this sort of thing happening. The players and coaching staff were responsible and if they had a shred of decency they'd pay the fine or contribute in large measure towards the costs. It's always the supporters and the wee guys who are trying to run these places on a shoestring who get stung. They might not get much in wages but the players were a disgrace and whatever they get paid is no reflection on the embarassment they have caused in the name of their clubs.

and ifit wasnt for theroses disciline i think dalkeith would have been looking at a finebefore the season even started.they are thugs. ps. and pish

We have played Dalkeith twice this season without a problem (except for a dodgy refereeing decision in the first game). You cant go labelling a team as "thugs" based on one game.

As for Dolan, yes I believe he came from Redhall Star or someone like that, and brought 10 players with him. Hopefully they stick with Dalkeith and dont follow him like sheep to his next coaching position (if anyone is mad enough to give him one)

We have played Dalkeith this season as well and there were no problems with their discipline.

They've played at Haddington as well. Perhaps the fact they cuffed us 3-1 kept their temper trantrums to a minimum biggrin.gif

I never said they were thugs. I said their behaviour in this particular game was a disgrace and they along with the coaching staff should show some accountability for the problems they have caused their clubs by paying for most of the fine rather than leave the club bankrupt or some other poor sod to pick up the tab. Points deductions are only relevant if they are a punishment. If you are in a league with no relegation, what's the point? One of them may have a chance of promotion but the other doesn't so that's only punishing one of them (potentially). I think any game that needs to be abandoned because of player and coaching staff behaviour is a serious issue and is unacceptable so the punishment should be severe.

It is a serious issue, but do you really believe the punishment should be so severe it could push both clubs to the brink of extinction, or at least set them back several years financially?

I agree that the players should contribute something towards the fine's, and I expect that could well be the case whether it's holding back some of their signing-on fee's or expenses or whatever, but that is a matter for the clubs themselves to address.

Points deduction is a valid form of punishment regardless of whether clubs are in the top or bottom division, and IMO the punishment should have been in the region of a 6 points deduction plus a £500 fine.
galayankee
agree should have been points deducted. i think it would have been dalkieth at fault tho as we(gala fairydean) played them in a frendly a few months ago and we were 3-0 up with 10 mins to go and made about 30 passes wich angered there players and they started flying in with 2 footed challenges and sly punches off the ball and ref abonded it with 10 still to play and after all it was just a friendly.......

most of all it was a few old fairys playing for them and the new local side showed them how to play lmao
Burnie_man
I heard the fine has been reduced to £500 with £1000 bond/suspended fine.
