Best thing about WotEF was the loader on the C64.

As usual it was a typical, load, show screen, load some more, hide screen, load a touch more and then run.

Well just as the loading screen appeared a really loud sampled scream (like a karate scream) is played. Scares the bejezus out of you.

As for the remake, why not download MAME and play Karate Champ by Data East, which was the game WotEF copied blatantly.



It also had a rather funny in between level game.


Fist 2 was bugged to hell, but was great!

Fist bettered Karate Champ by quite a margin.

Oh, I don't know. Have you played them side by side. I always thought Fist was a little clunky, while Karate Champ was hampered by the two joystick combo.

Fist2 had a bonus game which was a remake of the original which was later released in the scene as Karate Kid, used the improved engine.

I loved Fist2, i remember it getting panned at the time though.

Bugged to high heaven, that's why.

Shame as it was actually a very open game. And had a cracking tune, very foreboding and moody. Fitted the game style very well.

I never finished the game sadly, it was just too bugged and without save points the best you could hope for is to freeze the game using a replay cartridge. Even then it was more luck if it worked.
