Ayr 0 Alloa Athletic 4 - Things start looking up for Ayr at 2.30pm as someone finds Scott McKenzies shawl, so after a mug of weak tea and a wee heat for his varicose veins he's able to play. Sadly Ayr go one down early as McKenzie and Brian Reid forget they are a central defensive partnership and start complaining loudly to each other about the price of a loaf of bread. This allows Graeme Brown to score.
After limping to half time Ayr come out with fresh vigour in the second half, which is unfortunately delayed because a rather embarrassed un-named home player gets himself stuck in the toilet after forgetting to eat his prunes the previous evening. Alloa get a controversial penalty when referee and linesman conclude after much discussion that a zimmer frame is an extension of a players arm and therefore it was a handball. Luckily young McKenzie isn't too worried about the situation, as he has dozed off by the corner flag. Alloa score again shortly after when Brian Reid puts through his own net after becoming confused when his false teeth fall out. In the final minute Scott Agnew completes the scoring when he dispossesses McKenzie on the 18 yard line as he signals to the bench to 'video Weirs Way'.
There appears to be a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel as Ayr try to force the game to be replayed claiming that one of their players has failed a drugs test due to unusually high levels of Sanatogen, but when Alloa offer to replay on Tuesday night manager Reid declines as that is pension day and half his defence are having a shortbread and Harveys Bristol Cream evening, so the result stands.

If we fail to beat Queens and Ross County beat Airdrie I would think the league title is beyond us. Quite simply we haven't lived up to the early season promise and we're actually playing poorer football than half the teams in the league. I saw for real against St Johnstone what I had suspected for a while... poor fitness and no football in midfield.
