The worst tackle thread got me thinking. Did Morton ever have a player named Jim Deacon, and if so, was he forced to retire from football after a particularly nasty challenge?
Thanks in advance.

He played for Albion Rovers and the tackle was made by John Pelosi of St Johnstone.I think he might have taken him to court.
He still plays 5s down at Hatrix

Bloody hell! Like FS, I never realised that Pelosi had been taken to court twice over tackles!
When was this Deacon incident?

He's ages with my old dear (no, I'm not an illegitimate child) and she's 50, so I think it must have been some time in the early to mid 80s. I'm not sure when Pelosi played for Saints.

Pelosi played for us between 1976 and 1984 but we only played Rovers once in that time and Pelosi didn't feature!
Hmmm, the mystery deepens.
Now go and give that anorak of yours a wipe down Kev, you've made an awful mess of yourself.
