Didn't realise until this afternoon that both Hearts and Hibs were playing at home on the same afternoon.

Has this happened before, and is it a regular thing (when they are both at home in the cup)? I know for the Dundee sides and big two in Glasgow, one usually has to move to a Sunday when they are both drawn at home.

In the league, they are always moved, and I think everyone anticipated that one of them would be moved to Sunday. What with the rugby and the park being closed for a marathon, the traffic was very bad in the city centre. I'm sure if one or both away teams had had big supports (no offence to Motherwell and ICT, but someone like Aberdeen, Old Firm etc) one would have moved.

To be fair on Motherwell they brought as many as would have been there with Aberdeen and the OF.

It's more to do with the time of year.

The police are doing as much overtime as they can get to pay off christmas and save for their holidays.

I'm pretty sure that when we played Hearts at Tynecastle in the cup in Feb 1989 Hibs and Meadowbank were both also at home in the cup on the same day.

Edit: Hibs played Motherwell at Easter Road and Meadowbank played Morton at Meadowbank Stadium.
Whatsmore, Rangers and Celtic also both played at home that day.

Motherwell filled the away end. They brought over 3,000.

True, I didn't realise (or expect) that many fans, particularly as in the league they don't get the entire stand. However, my point stands, volatile fans (Dons, OF) would not be permitted to travel together.

Both were at home 2 seasons ago.
