Who are Bo'ness playong this Saturday then? I've forgotten. Are they still in the Scottish Cup or did they lose out to 9 men in round 3?

As a Stranraer fan staying in Glasgow I watch and enjoy watching the Lok but at the end of the day not one Junior team beat League oposition FACT. Rose only got as far because they played lesser teams.

Thats why they get beaten by junior teams in friendlies all the time, iv mentioned on other threads, 4 occaisions where i have seen my club beat the first team of a senior team, the only senior team to beat us would have been Stirling Albion(first division team) smile.gif

Rose beat Spartans who were probably the best non league side that used to get into the Cup though.

Friendlys are friendlys tho, we beat Ayr 8-0 preseason or was it 7-0. But we wouldnt beat them anything like that in a competitive game.

Thing is Cosmo, most years there will be an additional strong Junior side in the cup as it is pretty rare for a cup to win both their league and the Junior Cup. There's every chance someone will enter as Junior Cup winners next season.

Girvan are crap and get in by being SFA members as opposed to having to qualify, and Culter are gash in the world of Junior football as evidenced by their seemingly annual struggles past minor West Region opposition in the Junior Cup, be it Saltcoats last year or Vale of Leven this. They are nowhere near up to the level of the better Highland sides.

That left it to Lok and Rose - we played very well against the Mo and should have gone through in the 1st game. But we didn't, and hey ho we lost the replay - as you saw if you remember it! wink.gif We were definitely not outclassed in either match IMHO.

The Rose were 'unfortunate' (but not financially though!) that they avoided SFL opposition all the way to the 4th Round and the team they ended up drawing were a very tough nut.

I am 100% confident that if Lok or Rose had drawn Stenny as Threave did, we'd have put them out also.

Luck (or bad luck) of the draw! A lot of Lok folk were gutted to get Montrose as we knew it was a massive ask.

Its the FIRST year when Juniors were allowed to enter. Come back in 5 years and I'll bet you will have changed your tune.

The juniors will undoubtedly learn from the experience and the greater funding will allow them to invest in better players.

It won't be long before 2nd and 3rd division teams will lose to junior teams, mark my words.

I don't think it's about money, purely getting the right team at the right time.

Much easier to do that with money wink.gif

I meant getting the right draw at the right time, i.e. Lok at home to Stenhousemuir as opposed to away to Montrose. Not saying we WOULD have beat Stenny, but I'd have fancied our chances.
