Over rated maybe, but I'd take him back without a doubt.

If true, we've really fallen behind the top 2 now. While I'm happy with our acquisitions so far in the window, they pale in comparison to Barrau/Graham/Mensing and Imrie/Dorrans if they come off for Hamilton & Dundee.

That'll be what, 5 years in a row Simon's come runner up in the first!

Fingers crossed this is true. Showed his worth on loan, and would be a valuable addition to our squad.

what, so all supporters of the same team have to share the same opinion? blink.gif

surely 2 people having different opinions on a player doesn't constitute sour grapes?

mebbe fife saint just doesn't rate him......

When he was with you that's all we ever heard was what a good player he is. Now that theres a prospect he is signing for a rival, he's no longer wanted.

i seriously heard through my cousins man who has one or two mates playing football in both SPL and SFL of which one is a Motherwell teammate of Simon's. its expected he'll go to Gretna and if they stay up he looks great and gets another season on inflated wages. If he goes down he knows Billy Reid will still be there and wanna sign him! Tbh i think there is more space in the Gretna first team for him than ours. We were playing a lot better before these loan signings arrived!

noo way is he overrated as much as i hate to argue with a fellow sainty simon is fantastic a true 100% committed player, in it to win it and tackles first asks questions later which you need in this division to win games a bit of muscle which is what we have been lackin since he left and hardie got injured! I really hope he signs for us but i think the lose of owen will sawy him to hamilton plus spl football!

Don't know about that logic. I think he must be undecided. Possibly looking for a bit more money from Hamilton.

Mensing isn't getting any younger and i would hope that if he doesn't join this time we won't be back for him.

As of last weekend, the problem was between Simon and Motherwell. Nothing was going to, or will, happen until that's resolved.

If you find one instance of me expressing my love for SM you've won a watch. I've never been his biggest fan although i do realise and acknowledge that other supporters rate him. Fair enough, we all have different tastes.

This guy seems to crop up every now and then so i'll re-iterate for your benefit what i have said before.

No-one seems to know what his best position is. He is great to have on the bench because he can cover a multitude of roles but he was never first pick for ANY postion for us during his spell. He played a number of games due to injuries (again his quality as a squad player is undoubted) but for ME he wouldn't be my pick in midfield or defence especially with the players we have brought in.

All the best to they guy where ever he ends up but i won't be a wreck if he goes somewhere else.

Hopefully that dispells your small minded opinion of my attitude towards a good lower league pro. X

Chances of it?

I like his aerial presence in the midfield. Also, he is good at getting forward and getting into good positions in the box. Much needed to balance up the team in the absence of Stuart Taylor.
As you say- bit dodgy at right-back.

Cult heroes normally have an amazing ability to turn round a game when things are going bad zum beispiel Martin Hardie. Mensing can't do that for you on a consistent basis. 4th choice central midfielder and 5th choice Centre half/right back.

Fair enuf i agree Hardie would be a better choice but the main reason i like mensing was he adds bite to the team which is essencial to win the division! he is the best replacment for mcInnes cuz he florished in tht position before mcinnes came in and is better then anyone else at the club to play DM, think of it a central midfeild with mensing and hardie! two players who give 100%, a bit of muscle and will run up and down the field providing a goal threat as well! but i guess where does mooner fit in??? but anyway hes probs not going to come back!

Mensing is a better passer, better finisher, better in the air, stronger and more versatile. He's not as fast as McArthur but at the moment I'd have Mensing in first. McArthur also normally works like a beast on the pitch

However, if McArthur starts getting into better goalscoring positions and works on his final ball there wouldn't be much in it.

Those 2 months on Motherwells bench must have turned him into some player. When he played with his he was totally one dimensional. He panicked when within 40 yards of goal (although he did score a total screamer that rattled the bar and ended up in the net).

I'll never be convinced about him but i stand by what i said. He would never be a first pick for me.

Our central midfield don't panic enough.
Ye Olde Hamiltonian
James McArthur's ten times the player Mensing will ever be.

However, since Reid won't change his one man up front system,we need a replacement for Stuart Taylor.Mensing has shown he can be that player in his short stint at Accies.
Shotts56
Correct. His three goals in four games is testament to that. Would take him back in a minute as without Taylor/Mensing, we are struggling for a goalscorer to support Dickie.
academical
I'd play Mensing ahead of McCarthy, who would then have to compete for the wide right place.
themuzzle
i hear he's going to neither saints, accies or gretna wink.gif
