Also ferries from Hull to Rotterdam / Zeebrugge, or Rosyth to Zeebrugge. As well as all the Easyjets / Ryanairs I don't think it will cost too much getting over there, on a Saturday as well we should take a massive support.

Think I will be going on the ferry to this one. Well done to Gordon Smith for making this a weekend fixture. A whole weekend in Amsterdam

I hope the behaviour is better than it was last time we were there. there were a lot of folk went without tickets just cos it was amsterdam and had no intention of going to the game and the behaviour was pretty poor. shopping trolleys getting chucked in the canals etc etc. some folk think they can do what the like as long as they are "just having a laugh"

My birthday is the day after the game so I can't wait!
I've been to Amsterdam before so I know how to organise travel and accomodation, but unless I can save enough money to afford going to Iceland (unlikely) this will be my first away trip with Scotland. How far in advance would you recommend booking to ensure spaces on flights etc.
I'm not a member of any travel clubs so I would be doing everything independently.

I booked up for Paris in February and the game was in September! Likewise, I booked up in November for the Italy game which was in March last year.
I'm already looking at booking up for Macedonia, but I don't think I can go to Iceland, sadly, as much as I want to. I will, however, be in Amsterdeam by hell or high water and Norway should be an absolute hoot as well

You've got f**k all chance of a hotel in Skopje mate unless your going with Passport travel. Best way to do it is go to Sofia and stay there, comnig down for the game and arranging transport back after the match.

I'm actually looking to stay in Greece somewhere and arrange transfer from there, it's quite a journey but I did Rome-Bari overnight for the Italy game so it's roughly the same distance as that

you can fly to Thessaloniki in Greece quite cheap and there's trains from there direct to Skopje.
Greece and Macedonia consists of two daily trains between Thessaloniki and Skopje (4.5 hours in theory, often longer in practice, single ticket 11 euro), and a handful of buses per week on the same route. These cross the border at Gevgelija in southeast Macedonia, which is not very convenient for traveller.
Regarding staying/ hotels in Skopje. The city centre ones certainly seem to be full but there is plenty other accommodation in Macedonia outwith Skopje.
