He was awful when he first came but once his fitness came back he was decent for the last few games of last season

Still wouldn't get in our team this year. Your manager's eye for talent is terrible

are you trying to say Jay shields, Adam Coakley, Kieran Mcanespie and Michael Gardyne arent talented? huh.gif
1 John Lambie
laugh.gif Shouldn't be anywhere near a professional team in Scotland. Considered by some to be the worst player to wear the Thistle shirt in recent years! wink.gif

He was so bad it was actually funny, got better near the end but that was because he couldn't get any worse! laugh.gif

I don't get why Morton keep going for so much average rubbish. You had a decent base of a squad when you came into the division, but haven't strengthened at all

Sell Templeman back to Brechin for 100k, then get in a few decent players cool.gif
mcjimbob_dfc
Barry has been a cracking player for us throughout the years. Consistently Mr Reliable and just seemed to always be there.

There won't be many Dundee fans who wouldn't agree that he is a true gent. Loyalty was second to none and is a dying breed in this game (in saying that, Kev McD maybe learned a few things from him!)

Unfortunately, towards the end at Dundee, I feel he offered little on the park in the way of football, still influential though. I think fitness and age started to catch up on him.

Having not seen him in action recently, I couldn't comment on how he will be for you guys but i'd be surprised if he made it at this level at this stage in his career. Possible good coaching abilities though and could probably be depended on as a squad player.

5 words. Jim Mcinally and Douglas Rae. between them they have all the adequecy of socks at a flip flop convention.

we'd sell templeman then spend the 100k to bring in chic charnley or something.

you seem to be implying here that Jim Mcinally has either a brain or common sense blink.gif
Big Lebowski
Barry had a torrid start to his spell with us last season, however it should be remembered he was playing in a side bereft of confidence and in free fall at the time. When moved into centre midfield, he actually looked more comfortable as his lack of pace was not exposed in the way it was when Dick played him at full back.

Ended up one of our better players toward the end of the season, so perhaps he could do a job for Ton.

Fitness and lack of pace would be a worry depending upon where he is likely to be played.

Jim Mcinally is the main reason i want Craig Kevein to get the scotland job, cause maybe then you would take him away from us.

We're not that desperate.

If Eddie Thompson was considering it I would point him towards these boards. Own goal. laugh.gif

I said this when you signed Kieran, he is a good player but seems to be need decent man management to deliver. Everybody knows the guy has talent and last season showed that when playing under a manager who can motivate him and get him in the right position that he is still an excellent player. This obviously hasnt been the case at Morton (hasnt he been playing some games at left back? Everyone knows he is pish there) but its not down to a lack of talent. You have to ask as well why Gardyne was a stand out for Ross County in Division 1 last year and was crap for Morton.

I have a feeling we'll look to play him at either centre half or right back as we already have too many midfielders.

its not really that hard a question as to why both have been horrible, infact its the easiest question i will ever answer in my life. Jim Mcinally!

those two are two players with at least some talent when playing behind the strikers. neither of them played there at all.
wattie_rojas
Barry is a Dundee legend. I think he could still play at centre-half at this level as he reads the game so well and never loses a tackle. However, if you play him at full-back or midfield I reckon he'll be found wanting. Brilliant holding midfielder in his day.

Agree with all of that.

He was murder for us the first season we came down playing DM & RB.

Good luck to him tho'

He'll feel perfectly at home with us then.
garymcc1874
Can't be worse than Greacen and/or Harding and/or Jay Shield. Depends where he intends to play him. Who know maybe he will end up at DM which keeps McLaughlin well away.

Still, don't let that get in the way of having a dig at our manager. He could sign C. Ronaldo from Man U and he'll still be a clueless clown to you c**ts.

He could sign C Ronaldo and all would be forgiven, ..................
..........but then he'd go and play him at RB. rolleyes.gif

I hate the negativity on our board as well mate but to be honest JM brings it on himself.

Barry Smith is the model of fitness, you will be lucky to get him to work for you. Perhaps we could interest you in Jimmy Gibson as well?
FTOF_PTFC_1
Barry Smith where will is start rolleyes.gif

Infact i'll finish wink.gif - Shite, except from the time he scored that belter against Airdrie laugh.gif
BluebirdTon
I think aslong as he can kick a ball he'll be prefered to Greacen or Harding, who couldn't do much more wrong this season. unsure.gif A bit of experiance is what we have been lacking this season so he's a welcomed addition.Fingers crossed he stays fit.
SampFan101
He was a fat useless w**k for a bit of his time with us, he picked up a bit once he got fit and managed a goal at Airdrie but i'd avoid at all costs tbh.
Jacobite_Dundee
He's not the fastest, he's not the biggest, and he's not going to stun you with his flair, but (through dark blue specs, I'll admit) he usually seemed to be in the right place at the right time. He's an organiser, and he plays heads-up football. Depending on how his fitness is.

And I saw his equaliser for Thistle against Airdrie, it was a great shot, and I don't remember Partick Thistle having too many scoring chances that day (I was there as an anti-Airdrie supporter).
MTJ
Absolutely hopeless and he'll only get worse.

Deluded! wink.gif He's pish, end of. He wouldn't improve a 3rd Division team.
Exuberant
I saw Barry Smith play once, against Deveronvale. Our players were made to look little more than Highland League that day. Barry Smith was made to look like a 50 year old of Bristol Downs Division 4 Standard.

oh yes.... and "haha!"
Up wi the bonnets
He was good for Dundee, did lose his way a bit before he left

Weird how PT fans are slagging him cause even though he was mince for them he would have given 100% and i think more respect for the man is in order. like to see you guys try and play footie.

no offence to him but he was like a dithering elephant in what i saw of him. he was extremely unfit and no amount of trying could make up for that as it seemed your average 13-15 year old would comfortably jog and be faster than him running at the time.
jagsvayne
Barry's about as useful as a bursty condom tbh.....

I'll never forget Barrys shot that hit the post in the scottish cup final against Rangers

Some of the Thistle fans have been a bit unfair on him, imo. I don't think it was a case that he was unfit, more to do with the fact he'd just finished playing a full season in Iceland and was fucked. He certainly wasn't anywhere near our worst player last season. Also, having a manager who played him out of position didn't help.

I don't think weight / size is always the best indicator when considering fitness (think of Boab and Hinchy), but, for what it's worth, I was talking to him at the Clyde game and he looked trim.

he would have been a good player for us if his fitness/stamina was about 3/4 of what Rowson's is now (equivalent ages at the time of being at Thistle) but he seemed off the pace all the time.
vikingTON
He cannot possibly be worse than Stewart Greacen, so its a start at least.

Good to see another St Mirren fan behind enemy lines. Here's hoping he'll continue agent Starks work and chuck in with a couple of OGs. biggrin.gif

Hmmmm, I've just re-read my post. Unfit, fucked after a long season, it's pretty much the same thing, eh?

I need some sleep.

Ah come on now, he's supposed to be signing for Ayr - he's been training with us for weeks. I can't believe we've been gazumped again!

I was actually looking forward to his signing. He's just won the Icelandic Championship, so I'd have thought he could still perform at a resonable level.

O FFS he signs a defender after a 6-1 horsing by Livingston, when he should have prepared for ineptitude in advance.
Give the man a fucking gold star or something.
Its the manager's job to strengthen, and he's only doing it now because he knows fine well his job's on the line based on three weeks of negotiations and panic buys.

Honest, hardworking player. Great sweeper back in the day but just not got the legs or the pace anymore for this level. Good luck to him though

I agree, he was overweight when he signed for us but having seen him at the Clyde game he looked in much better shape. In saying that if you play him at right back then it could be watching through the fingers time for the Ton fans.

Adam Hamill ripped him a new arsehole in the cup game last year, first time i've ever felt sorry for a footballer as he was miles out his depth!
