Allegedly he's coming to Clyde.
We badly need someone who can score goals, is he the man for the job?

Yes, was never given a run in the team under Dalziel and it came back to haunt him when he scored two in a 3-1 victory for Cowden at Starks.
I almost celebrated when he scored as it proved I had been right all along and that Dalziel didn't have a fucking clue what he was doing!!!
He also had a loan spell at Arbroath and they seemed to rate him highly as well

Should never have let him go..
Yeah, I always rated him from what little we saw of him at Raith, not surprised he's done well at Cowdenbeath.

Yep, he was miles better than the players Dalziel did pick to play upfront in Crabbe & Jablonski (I rated him but he was never a striker)
I think he would have made the perfect foil for McManus as well

Possibly, all the first division clubs seem to have joined in the bandwagon, despite the fact Nottingham Forest are interested.
I wonder who he'd choose.

Yep Rovers fans, lets start a love-in for Clarke again

I thought he was a decent enough player who didn't get too many chances under Dalziel (he had some, and wasted them) but he's nowhere near the player some of our fans make him out to be.
I still reckon he'll be a decent signing for Clyde though, but he's nowhere nearly as good as our fans think.

I never suggested her was a world-beater

but more than good enough to get a game for us at the time when we were struggling for goals
Also we were rumoured to have been sniffing around him close-season as well I think

Couldnt score and missed sitter after sitter down here. Must have improved loads.
quite surprised to hear that clyde are after him. We heard raith were going to offer him a deal. I think Pat does wish to leave to move on to a bigger club. No doubt he is a good player however not the best finisher you will get. Works extremly hard and is very quick and strong. Dont know but im sure a fee would have to come our way if he is leaving during this transfer window.

I certainly did. Took him a few games to find his feet but when he did he was really impressive and a real hard working, physical presence up front. Him and Alan Brazil really clicked and were a fine strike partnership for us.
I wasn't very impressed when Raith recalled him from his loan spell to us and then left him festering in their reserves for the most part.

Lets be honest, he was never going to stop us from going down. He was neglected as a player at the Rovers and come back to haunt us but i personaly would not fear him when he plays against us. The only reason i would expect him to score against the Rovers is because he is an ex player and it always happens to us.

30-40k
We got 30k for TWO players that went to an SPL club.
and 5k for our captain last season (but the alternative was nothing 6 months later)
The absolute most we'll have to pay would be 5k I'd imagine.

Yes, AT MOST. He's probably not worth a fee but some compensation may be in order
Pat is under 24 so Cowden would be due compensation. Exactly the same situation with Liam Buchanan last season and Partick had to cough up £20,000 so Clarke wont be going for anything less. Also from what I have heard Pat is undecided about the move anyway. May well happen but is certainly not a done deal and will cost Clyde if it does go ahead.

If Cowden are to stay up this season (And hopefully they do) Pat Clarke may well be a key element. Bags of potential, can score goals anyone who knows anything about football knows this about the lad (Hence they reason Dalziel didn't have a fucking clue

)
But on the other hand, Cowden could use the money to invest in other areas of the team. Either way it would be a tough choice for the Cowden board to make.

If I was him all things considered I would stay where I was. The extra money he'd be getting in wages would be offset by the risk of not getting them paid (which is possible at Clyde pretty soon) and the lack of enjoyment at playing in a gloomy stadium at a crappy struggling club, albeit in the 1st Division.

The reality is that Cowden get good young players to sign for them by promising that if a higher club comes in for them, the club won't stand in their way. Clyde will have to come up with adequate compensation, though.

I'm glad someone else had their eyes open when watching him play, and didn't just hide behind the fact that because Dalziel never played him, he must be great.
He made something like 12 appearances that season, and he was on loan at Arbroath for a few months.
He scored once, I think.
That Clyde game is the one I mostly remember him by, he looked an excellent prospect that day.

Total nonsense.
We're long past that kind of thing.
Also, we're quite clearly in the same block of the table as the likes of Partick, Livingston, Morton and Dunfermline, so they're all "struggling" too.
Ignoring the statistics, we know we're shite right now, but we also know a good striker would improve the team beyond belief. We defend well, create chances, then squander them.

Will be gutted to see Pat go but would rather see him sign for Clyde than Raith Rovers. It is no coincidence that our recent slump in form began when he picked up his current injury. Brian Welsh is bringing in attacking players and im sure he will move on during the transfer window. Unfortuneately a club like Cowden has no choice but to sell on it's best players and it would be unfair to block their progress. It looks like we have a good crop of youngsters coming through though so no need to be too gloomy

No chance, we got 5k for our captain to Dundee, and 30k for two players to an SPL club.
I would say at the most 10k.
Besides we're not getting him until the summer.
