I'm particularly not impressed with Joe Jordan whose name seems to be creeping around. I don't want Tommy Burns or Roy Aitken either.
Of course we all know i could do the job better but what are other's opinions?

I hope not Tommy Burns either. I’d much rather he remain at Celtic and continue with his job as Head of Youth Development and helping out Strachan.
In a way though it would be good if he is offered the job and given the way the SFA treated him a few years ago, I hope he would tell them to shove it.

He had given five years of his time to help Scotland, took all the flak that came his way yet when Smith quit the SFA never had the deceny to contact him over what the future held. From memory it was through the media that he learned that he was not going to be considered or given an interview for the job.
Now, I would have thought it would have been common courtesy to contact him as No.2 and tell him what the situation was.

Whether he submitted an application I don’t know but I don’t think that’s relevant, not getting the job is not really the issue. What is, is someone who had served as No.2 for five years deserved to be given at least one call to explain the SFAs future plans, as I say common courtesy. When the search for a replacement for Vogts went on, Burns remained in the set-up to aid the SFA despite being at the centre of plenty of flak. He was clearly prepared to do the same again yet wasn’t even contacted by the SFA. I am not surprised he felt some hurt after that.

1. Tommy Burns (Never convinced me he is anything more than an average manager)
2. Graeme Souness (Not the right man)
3. John Collins (Poser and would only do it to get a bigger job in the Premiership)
4. Jim Jeffries (Not the right man)
5. George Burley (Not the right man)
6. Walter Smith (Never again, the Rangers job will be his last as nobody would trust him)
7. Kenny Dalglish (Not the right man)
8. George Graham (Fecking awful bloke and manager, most boring Leeds team ever under him)
9. Sir Allshit Ferguscum (Arsehole)
10. Any foreign manager (Not again, not right for Scotland)
This leaves only McGhee or Levein for the job.

As much as Souness was useless at Most teams, he wouldnt use the job as a shop window, he'd take no shit and best of all, he'd have no money to waste on shite players.
Surely any idiot can pick a Scotland team; we dont have that large a pool to pick from who are geniune international players - get the good coaches in to prepare them properly and let Souness be the big scary b*****d that motivates them before games and at Half Time.
Or Levein.
I am not impressed with any of the candidates. Burley has made a pigs ear of most things, except Hearts for his 12 games in charge. He a decent couple of years at Ipswich, before they turned to shit and Southampton, well that speaks for itself. Burns should not be encouraged either it has been over 10 years since he managed in his own right. For McGhee see Burley and change Hearts for Motherwell. Souness, well he is a ranter and raver and has won nothing for years either. We are fucked.
QUOTE (qos_75 @ Jan 9 2008, 09:17)

He took Ipswich (a mid level Championship team) to ridiculous heights (very similar to O'Neill at Leicester to be honest) and did well at Hearts also.
He has had to work under extreme financial pressures at Southamption (selling anyone half decent and getting no maoney back).
I think he is the best choice out of that lot. He is Jose Mourinho compared to Tommy Burns.

Yes but he also led Ipswich back to the 1st division in just as quick a time, thus getting the sack.

His only failure in his managerial career. Even that though was amplified by Ipswich's massive overachievement the season before.
In reality they were always a club for whom one place above the relegation zone was success.
I actually think their performances the season after that in Div One were a poorer effort than the relegation.
Just to make it clear - I'm not suggesting Burley is a terrific manager. Just that he is the best of a bad lot.

He got Ipswich relegated, hovered around the top of the Championship for years without any success, finally got them promoted, had an exceptional season leading them to a top 5 finish then led them to relegation the following season.
How did he get on at Ayr?

George Burley seems to start really well at every club he goes to then slowly his side's slip into mediocrity
I'd rather not have him, but I'd rather not have anyone on this list to be honest
