If you've connected to the internet then you've set the connection up.

Any games with online play will control it all within the game itself. So, just go into the game and follow the instructions in the manual. Most Nintendo games use a friends code system where you need to know the code of the person you want to play against rather than just going online and playing some random. AFAIK - the EA games are the only ones that currently dont use friends codes.
