Talk about a game of two halves.
First half QP looked ok but we let them in early and they got a penalty for a trip from donnelly (?) . Trouten score3d it easily and then ten minutes later they broke and scored after a switch from the right to left wing and Cairney chested and , again , scored easily.
Homer came off because he was injured and Watt came on and played up front with russell, prunty went right wing.
Second half was good. Totally outplayed them for most of the half although they could have been dangerous on the break. 4 or 5 bodies in each attack usually.
Mcdonald scored, Then started playing brilliantly.
Russell is the best striker in this league and I just hope he stays. He was brilliant today and his goal showed that. narrow angle into the top of the net.
Then 89 minutes Watt turns at the byline inside the six yard box and crosses over for dougall to hammer of the defender/keeper/both and into the net . All in all a good day after what I though would end up as damage limitation.
Queens Park fans must be pissed.

A very important victory for us today. I was impressed by the Queens attacks in the first half . They broke forward with 4 players usually and caused our defenders all sorts of trouble . We were lucky not to be 4 nil down at halftime. Great 2nd half performance from us though and thoroughly deserved to win by the amount of chances we created in the 2nd period.

I wasn't complaining much about the penalty. I know he left his leg there to be tripped by someone but donnelly and mckeena fannied around without tackling for ages and them brought him down . I'm no sure.

Was never a penalty in a million years, a blatant dive. Having said that, they had a stonewaller turned down just before it, and to be honest if that one was given McKenna would have been lucky to escape a red card.
Our first half performance was particularly poor, it frustrates me that this group of players can put in two performances like those against Alloa and Berwick, and then come out and play as if they've never met each other before.
Second half was obviously better, closing men down quickly and moving off the ball a lot better. Still seemed unable to put a tackle in most of the time. In fact, between that and the number of handballs Queen's got away with, it felt like I was watching a basketball game at times.
An absolute screamer from McDonald to kick us off, I thought he had an excellent second half. And the way we were playing after we got the equaliser I was confident that the third was coming, although I must admit I was running out of hope when it finally did come. Good to see the players absolutely delighted with the goal, too many times in the first half they just didn't look interested.
Good win, although the two teams above us also had very good wins. Playing so poorly and going two down early, then coming back to win... that's the sort of thing that wins leagues. Hopefully we can keep this run going, with Raith and Ross County playing each other on Saturday.

Fantastic result for us and as someone has said already its these kind of victories that could prove vital at the end of the season.
We just weren't at the races in the first half at all, we looked slugish and struggled to get a grip on the game. Credit to QP who came out and had a go, they were denied a stonewall penalty after 5 mins but it was evened out when one of their players took a blatant dive moments later and the ref pointed to the spot. After that we started to pull ourselves together, some decent movement going forward saw a cracking Kev McDonald effort hit the post and we sent another few chances wide of the mark. Queen's continued to break forward quickly tho and before the 20 minute mark they had their second. To be honest if they were a bit more prolific in front of goal we may have been buired at half time but we started to shore up a bit at the back and only went into half time 2 down.
Second half was like a different team, excellent performances all around from everyone. I missed Kev's goal but heard it was a peach. Big Russell's finnish was immense and the winner was just out of this world, sloppiest goal you'll ever see but I felt it was well deserved. We had a number of excellent chances in the second and were unlucky not to grab a couple more goals but the effort and football played by our guys was outstanding at times in the second. Queens could have gotten back 2 goals in front at 2-1 but a cracking effort from distance hit the underside of the bar. They were still dangerous on the break but as I said I felt we were the much stronger side in the second period.
Great day for us and now we can hopefully keep the performances and results coming. As I said in the Berwick thread the other day, people forget how weak our squad is becoming, Stuart Noble was added to the injured list today and along with the other guys that are out I think this reuslt shows the character this side is beginning to build.
Everyone was awesome in the second half and young Andreoni from Dundee Utd looked pretty sharp. Allan Russell is one of the most influential players I've seen in a Diamond for years, here's hoping we can keep him here!
Bring on Peterheid!

In the first half we could easily have killed that game off but we simply can't score and desparately need a striker.
Second half Airdrie were average, we just totally buckled under the pressure.

got to agree with everything thats been said so far, queens should have had the game dead and buried by half time, but credit to whoever gave the half time team talk (it certainly wasnt kenny black). Agreed, allan russell is by far the best in the division, his hold up play and finishing (although rusty at the start of season) is now second to none. thought the wee boy done well and holmes should never have tarted (only off treatment table yesterday) hopefully waddell will be back by saturday allowing holmes to f*ck off and put darren smith wide right and mcdougall left.

Andreoni was chronic today, never tackled, got booked for being a mouthy c**t and lost the ball on more than one occasion - if MacDonald had played that way today then he would have been slaughtered! young Watt had a good game; unlucky not to score before we hit the winner!

Is Russell no9?
If so, then i would find it hard to argue against you...
He was brilliant today and looked a real threat every time he got the ball...
He could do much better than airdrie IMO
Disappointed that we didn't go in 3 up at half time as trouten should have scored at least one of the 1 on 1s against your keeper...
2nd half was poor, I don't think Airdrie were all that good to be honest, they just have more upfront than we do at put away the similar chances that we had in the first half...
At least we don't need to go back there this season :/

he has tried...Hamilton, Partick, St Mirren... but never proved it, maybe he's found his level or maybe its because he was played as a midfielder most of his pofessional career, agreed though, we were average today....whos your diving number 10???? and whos your number 2 that must be so glad hes never coming back to Nou Broomfield coz everythime hes had the C*nt ripped out him!!!
Hope to f*ck it aint true but heard a couple of rumours at todays game (1) Russell was apparently being watched by St Johnstone today and (2) Noble wasn't playing due to an up and coming medical in relation to a move away.
As I said only rumours so would be delighted if anybody has heard any different cause if these 2 go we can forget about any chance of going up.

I think we all expect Russell to be being watched by quite a few clubs so there is a possibility of that one being true, although I have heard noble was unwell, apparently
Like I said hope to feck its no true but Russell certainly the way he is playin just now could easily play at a higher level (but lets hope its with us).
Why is `Reilly such a` bad ref 2nd division don't deserve these clowns
well done Airdrie you certainly won the second half

First half thought we were brilliant, but I had a feeling the missed chances were going to cost us.
Airdrie were very impressive going forward in the second half and ripped our defence to shreds with their pace up front, but we still had opportunites to kill the game off, especially at 2-1, Trouten was very unlucky to see his shot hit off the bar.
As soon as Airdrie's second went in I knew they were eventually going to grab the winner, and they did, poor stuff in the second half from us, any sort of pressure and our defence crumbled.

a thought the ref was not too bad, pretty clean game, had no really MAJOR decisions to call apart from missing queens stone wall penalty on 5 mins and then giving a dive on 8 mins LoL but game was played the way it should be played, credit to queens though, 1 of the better passing teams I've seen in this division, any ideas who'll be taking over??

It wasn't a dive to be honest.. the player did touch him so he had the right to go down...
Just made the most of it.
