Absolutely pathetic from our point of view. We simply have no confidence whatsoever at the moment and are lacking the type of player who is up for a fight. Fair play to Morton who took advantage of our ineptitude however they looked far from great too.
BishyTON
Just finished listening to todays game and despite the efforts of our captain we managed to record a much need victory. Delighted with the result and hopefully we can now kick on and go on a decent run. Although we still desperately need a CB to replace Greacen - who is a total liability.
Gnash
Bollocks. The thing that annoys me most is that, after the Celtic game, we will have nothing to play for until August.

I was going to go along today, but given our current form and the terrible game up at Forthbank earlier this season i decided to give it a miss.

No doubt we will get pumped on Saturday at Livi as I will be going.

Had to work today do actually missed todays game... though i am delighted with the result even if we did play pish, that brings the Dunfermline game to mind when they played pish and came away with the win...

Anyone know how McGuffie played today?

Pulled the strings today...

He is the difference from you guys battling in the play offs and finishing mid table, cracking signing!

We were dreadful today...on another day though we could have scored 5 or 6...confidence just isnt there right now and we look like a team that has accepted relegation already sad.gif

truely terrible game of football, two teams who looked void of confidence, much idea and ability. Both tried their best to gift the other chances, but you were slightly better at taking advantage of our gifts. McKenna's miss from Greechan (think it was him) gift sums our season up.

We are down, think you could see how importent the result was for Morton team and must be a relief for the fans to realise there is actually a team worse than you in the league. In all the games we have played against each other from div 3 days i question whether there has been one with such poor quality. Yes the conditions were dreadful, but todays there was vrtually nothing, its gona be a long few months ahead for us. Credit Morton who wanted it that little bit more and to be fair had a little bit more spark and drive going forward.

Ps does anyone have photage of Lilley when he was the 'alledged' player years ago. Have Ton fans ever seen a former hero or for that matter anyone who was once a cracking player look so bad?
lofty1
what a shit game of football, wished i had just stayed in the house. Morton werent very good, stirling were just slightly worse. Greacen must be singled out for he is the worst player i have seen for years, the amount of mistakes this guy makes in one game is unbelievable, which include tackling our own players, never finding one of our players with a pass, being out of position most of the time etc etc. but then again that just shows up our managers lack of footballing knowledge, like how he never takes peter off although he does little for the team. We didnt deserve 3 points today, but then again stirling were that little bit poorer than us today.
Marc
This isn't exactly brilliant football by Derek Lilley but i just happened to type his name into youtube and look at the amount of Morton fans, where have they gone? laugh.gif

Shite performance by all the Albion players & management and cost too much to sit in the freezing cold to watch such tripe.

It was a poor game but Morton played most of the football that was on offer. Kevin Finlayson going down the right wing caused problems for Stirling all afternoon. Stirling's goal was well worked but that's about all that they did. Any other problem we had was down to our own bad defending and much as I like big Greacen as an honest trier, today he had an absolute nightmare, especially in the first half.

Second half was mostly Morton and our winner was a good goal from the best bit of football in the game. McGuffie I thought had a solid enough game but did not impose himself as much as I thought he would. Nonetheless, he's a strong lad and will bolster our midfield.

When Jamie Stevenson came on in the second half he was clearly a class act and better than most of the players on the pitch. Its good to have him back from injury and he has to start next week!

The outcome though was another defeat for Stirling and it looks like it will take a miracle to revive their season. I think that there are now six clubs playing to avoid the play off spot with not much to choose between us, Clyde, Thistle, Livvy, Queens and Dunfermline.
vikingTON
I'd say in my biased opinion that we just edged Stirling today, but I don't think we deserved 3 points.
The first half was without doubt the least exciting or entertaining spectacle of the season so far.
Stirling lack confidence and we lack competence at the back.
We have to play far better to be secure - the Stirling of last season would have horsed us.
Still, a goal-scoring midfielder who isn't a midget: we may yet be onto something new here. smile.gif

I couldn't care if McGuffie couldn't score goals laugh.gif I just didn't want another midget mad.gif

I thought McGuffie had a decent game today. He made a few daft judgements, especially at a free kick, when he ran at the ball before it was even kicked earning him a booking. He took his goal well though and certainly looks like the center mid we've lacked for a long time.

The game itself was cack.We created very little and had one chance in the whole of the first half which Weatherson should really have scored. Its three points at the end of the day and its keeps us away from the play-off place for now,a win long overdue though.

I agree with that mostly. The first half was completely forgetable except for our dire defending which a better team would have punished. In terms of creating, I thought we were a lot better in the second half and were easily the better team. Finlayson and McAnespie and Stevenson all put in a lot of very decent crosses which we could'nt capitalise on but football is a confidence game and ours has been quite low. A decent result on Saturday and everything in the garden will be rosy again.

We created about 8 at Dunfermline in the last game, and it took a shot from 25 yards to give us our only goal.

Our strikers, for want of a better description, are honking.

It's not the creating chances that's the problem.

To be fair though, you did only have two chances today, the goal and the chance at 1-1, think it was McKenna who got through the defence?

Speaking of the defence, today Stirling fans saw the true side of Greacen, your fans seem to think he's quite good for some reason. unsure.gif

While I'm here, cheers to all at the cricket club for their hospitality. smile.gif

Can't be doing with arguing, but that about the one where Aitken ran through everybody, Bells free header after 5 minutes and the one Lilley practically fell over on the pen spot.
MacLeantonboy
In all honestly the game was pish, was not the worth the tenner i payed to get in as it lacked everything with no teams really making a good attempt at goal apart from the three goals laugh.gif . I am just happy that we won this game as i said before it i thought it was a must win and i am glad we did so.

Only decent two morton attacks in the first half was the one with weatherson which i thought he should of hit across the keeper but choose not too and also Mcguffie's shot from outside the box which was decent effort but not really troubling the keeper.

The second half was an improvement, Harding put us 1-0 up from a scrappy set play but then the morton defence went to sleep once again and let the stirling striker slot home (careless marking if you as me)
Then it was Mcguffies turn to score and he took it very well, i thought that when graham missed the ball then that was the chance gone but Mcguffie just placed it in the corner past the stirling keeper who had no chance.

One point i would like to address is that we need a new centre back, i mean how many times is greacen going to f**k up before Mcinally sees sense, as on a number of occasions during the game Greacen let the ball bounce instead of goin to attack the ball before it had bounced but luckily these mistakes did not cost us, although on one occasion it nearly did but Robinson came out to make a good save.
Does anyone know why Mcgurn didnt start today?

Not forgetting Tomano's dive, dire performance from all today.
GreenOak_Ton
I'm guessing McInally is blaming McGurn for the poor defensive performances of late and dropped him instead of Greacen, combine that along with him substituting Russell who was about the only person on the pitch who looked like a footballplayer today(Stevenson apart)and that sums McInally up perfectly. An ersehole!!!

I agree with what your saying but i'd like to point out that for the fourth game in a row i thought MacGregor was MOTM another solid performance from him at the back although some long balls to no-one but still was very impressed with him since coming back from injury, IMO morton's best player at the moment by far wink.gif

Yeah, your defence just doesn't go handing opportunities on a plate like ours does.
After the equaliser it semed more than likely that Stirling would beat us yet again.
Still, that's a "Balmoor" style bogey ground vanquished again. biggrin.gif

Excellent post, agree with all of that. I'd add that although Harding messed up for their goal, he looked solid today. In fact all of the back 4 with the exception of Greacen looked good, a welcome change.

Yes haha forgot to mention about the back four got carried away, yes the defence had a good game apart from that marking error for the goal, that was about it, although as i mentioned before greacen needs to attack the ball instead of letting it bounce dry.gif

Good result, mediocre performance - but who's caring at this stage in the season. Finally we take the points in a close game!

Greacan - WTF. This guy used to actually look like a commanding centre half. Now struggles to shin the ball clear.

McAnespie, some great deliveries. If he can stay fit, along with Stevenson, these two might just have the quality to get us a few more results.

McGuffie - thought he looked decent without being outstanding. Took his goal brilliantly, although was lacking markers from a Stirling pov. Great willingness to get forward, which was good to see.

All in all - decent start to the new year. Might actually risk a trip to Livvy on sat... too many bad memories... lets say undecided at the moment!

I believe that David turned up for the match but was sent home because was ill (flu maybe?) Late decision to put Robinson on and nothing sinister at all.

You should worry - one of the home stand stalls had run out of cold pies before 3:15. sad.gif

And on the subject of chances - We did have at least half a dozen yesterday. It's just that Lilley has this unique ability to make them look like they aren't actually chances. ph34r.gif mad.gif

Thought McAnespie won the match for Morton as his ankle cruncher on Steven Bell ended our chances. Expertly executed piece of planned violence from the Ton number 6 blink.gif

Its what's known as a fecking good booking, because Greacen was just about to fall on his arse and open the path to goal.
A booking couldn't be argued with - he got part of the ball but clearly took much of the man with him.

I've had more excitement watching the vidiprinter than yesterday at Forthbank.

You forgot Aitken's run from half way just before half time, when the crowd on our side of the park thought his shot had gone in instead of just past. Then there was Lilley's effort early on when he was clear at the corner of the 6 yard box and chested it to your defender.

Heavy snow in Stirling now, 24 hours too late.
