Im going for a 2-0 home win. Although we will need to start playing better.
Peterhead wont be an easy game.

To follow: Carlos with the Stats and The Jailender with his review which Flith and Staggy4life will agree with laugh.gif .

Hope all the Staggie Family have a good new yr. This is my last post of the yr.

Highlander. wink.gif

Friday Nite club
The way we've been playing recently you are in for an easy 3 points and a chance to boost your goals tally. Our only hope of getting anything out of the game is to go up there and try to defend...
thejailender
Firstly it looks like there should be no problem with the game being on, The pitch was fine yesterday and we've had no frost over night, and the forecast is looking good for tonight.

As for the game, County need to do something we haven't managed all season so far, and that is win a third game on the trot. We need to do this just to keep the pressure on Raith, meaning this weekends game at Starks Park could be huge for both clubs.

But before that we have to concentrate on the Peterhead game. County have won both games against them this season, but both by a a single goal margin. Ironically a lot of people have slated the Peterhead keeper this season, but he was all that stopped Peterhead getting a right doing in the first game in Dingwall, and although he costs a goal in the game in Peterhead in November, he still managed to pull of a string of excellent saves that day..

County have signed Partick's winger Adam Strachan on a six month deal, so he is now available for selection, he has been training with the club for around 3 weeks now, and played a couple of bounce games with the team, it was just the signing restrictions that have stopped him from playing in the first team, so hopefully he is already settled and able to slot into the team.

Defensively I think we are still a little weak, I'm not sure what is happening with Scott Boyd, his loan deal has expired although he was still with the squad on Saturday at Hampden, but I'm not sure if he is re-joining us or not.

Jim Pansy
Adam Strachan is going to be very, very interesting. Give our record of signings made at this time of year, I'll guess he plays about ten games between now and the end of the summer, but is released and ends up at Ayr or Stranraer.

I know the Partick guys on the first division forum were saying the Scott Boyd deal is a done one, but maybe Sean Webb will get a chance?

From what I'm hearing I think Sean Webb is going to extend his loan deal with Achrington Stanley.

Im going to be blazing for this one, I will need to read Fryrish's Report !

A Bannana skin encounter, Due to the current form of both sides but although results are keeping County up there, their performances have been low tempo to say the least.

They aren't alot of stats for our encounters with Peterhead. This will be the fourth meeting in the SFL and we have won all previous encounters by one goal each time. This is only Peterhead's second visit to Victoria Park since election.

I imagine it will be a bigger than usual crowds as alot of people have been back for Xmas or New Year. I imagine County will win this one also, but history suggests it will be the one goal. 1-0.

I don't think we need to worry about them TJE, Airdrie are more of a concern (and have been since day one).

Battle of the 'Highlanders' tomorrow, I think we should be able to win this one. They will be without easily their biggest threat in attack and post Christmas/New Year Bobby Mann shouldn't strike fear into the hearts of our attack.

2-0.

Get your dummy back in your mouth, it was a joke aimed at the "uppity basturts" comment. As proved by yourself there, Raith are indeed the uppity basturts.

Peterhead have signed Rory MacAllister on loan from us for a month. County better watch out now! laugh.gif

I bet the useless c**t scores today.
Jim Pansy
Barrowman makes it 2-1 right on the stroke of half time.

If MacAllister isn't going to have an impact, another ex-Tink Blobby Mann has.

Get in there. 3-1.

Scullion of Cowdenbeath hasn't done his team any favours though...

looks like everyone wants a goal! That's 5-1 now. Shame raith are now winning and airdrie are now drawing.

I wish i had forgotten about this game.

Maybe that will start the ball rolling on getting some of the waste of money out of Balmoor we have.

He started on the left wing and played centre-mid for half of the 2nd period.
Adds abit of width and pace on the wing and to our midfield which we have lacked this season. Always willing to take people on and i thought he was superb as was most of our players today. biggrin.gif

Yes and Yes.

He had some great touches and some good crossing from the left, but then the whole team played superb today, with the front players especially playing good and linking well together. He had the chance to make it 6-1 but he had a poor touch and the ball went out for a goal kick.

As for the game itself, It looked to be another of those days when Peterhead went in front, we had been creating some good stuff up until that point but failing with the final ball, then Blobby Mann (who looks like he ate well over Christmas) rose to head in the free kick.

But County responded well, and equalised within 10 minutes, Alex Keddie at the near post heading in Sean Higgins' corner.

County took the lead just before half time, again a headed goal from almost the same spot, this time Andy Barrowman heading it over the keeper an in at the far side.

Barrowman made it 3-1 just after half time, a low shot past the keeper, then it was 2 goals in as many minutes. firstly Dene Shields with a low shot from the right side of the field, then Daniel Moore scored with his first touch of the ball after only being on the field around 30 seconds (the sub being made after Shields had scored)

Barrowman though he had scored his hat-trick on the 90th minute but it was ruled out for offside. Craig Gunn also had a late effort cleared off the line after Kula fumbled a cross stright onto Gunn's feet.

The only sour point of the game was Andy Dowie being injured. He slide in to with (Rory MacAllistair I think) and the two collided with the advertising hoarding. I could hear the contact his face made with the board at the other end of the ground. Dowie was knocked out at the time and the players immediately called for help. Dowie got back to his feet and walked down the tunnel before going by ambulance to hospital. He broke his nose, had concussion, his neck is sore and was put in a brace, and he also seems to have injured his wrist - but to what extent I'm not sure.

Impressive display by the youngster today, really quick and nimble, though if I'm honest, Peterhead did allow him a lot of space and time in the first half.

Generally I thought County were at least 2 gears ahead of Peterhead today, yet somehow on Peterehads first attack they go and score within the first 10/15 Min's. If County really want to go up this issue needs to be addressed. Style and Panache were present at the game, and the one touch football was pleasing to the eye. We took our chances and to be honest we could have been 5-1 up at half time. Peterheads goalie once again producing some fine save, only to let himself down by some dodgy handling and decision making, although to be fair not one of those mistakes really lead to a goal. In my view the major blow today is the loss of Dowie, who took on one of the advertising hoardings and lost, apparently he's in hospital with concussion, a broken nose and a possible fractured wrist. He will be missed.

Couple of questions though,

  1. Most County fans think we need another striker, do we really need one as the boy Adam can also play up front?
  2. For Peterhead fans, does Bobby Mann get bigger every game?

Edit: too slow. see above

Well he seemed to move into a more forward position in the last 10/15 Min's, maybe Adams was just experimenting as the game was won by then.

It's amusing. Some of your fans seem to be more concerned about other teams results than your own, so much so that they are delighted when certain teams fail to win. Pathetic.

Steven Istead.

I didn't think he was as bad today as the game at Balmoor.

Trust me he is not a striker. His finishing is awful. Think in his 4 years with us he scored a total of 5 goals.

Slick, pacy, controlled, stylish and confident are some words to describe the performance yesterday. We simply blew away a Peterhead side who were frankly no match for us.
All that we love about the game was on display yesterday and any neutral watching would have been impressed with what was on display.I knew of a few people who watched a county game for the first time yesterday and hopefully such a showing will make them return.

Yes the defence could have been a bit tighter at times but lets take nothing away from the team.We passed the ball crisply, often taking a touch before zipping it forward. One minute it was at the back and next minute we were taking a shot at goal.Seldom have I seen the ball move so forward as quickly as yesterday.

I am not going to get carried away by just one game.We have to show we can perform like that on a consistent basis, but the forward line of Higgins,Shields and Barrowman showed what they can do to devastating effect.Strachan if he played like he did yesterday will be an asset.

Tougher games await starting this saturday but meantime we can all bask in the glow of a sensational performance.

It's a shame there hasn't been any real Peterhead opinions on the game as of yet. Peterhead Dave said that he thought eventhough Peterhead did't play that badly they were outclassed. It was a tremendous match to watch, and Peterhead still tried to attack by playing the ball on the deck alot of the time.

Adam Strachan made a very impressive debut, has an excellent touch and his passing was very good. On that basis I would say we have got a good player, however it will take a the next nine or ten games to really tell if he will be an asset. Initial reactions ae positive though.

Alex Keddie played very well yesterday, did everything simple and was a serious goal threat.
