I was in the old stand just a few yards from him. He seemed to be as wild about the refereeing as much as his team falling out of the game. Everytime Airdrie got a bad decision in the second half (which was almost non stop) he was out at the touchline waving his arms in fury.
Thought a draw would have suited yesterday but without the "penalty" I just couldn't see rovers scoring. Good points were the performance in the first 30 - 40 mins, Marc Smyth, Dosser,Hollis, Donelly, Kb not playing waddel and homer played well. We were much better in the first half and homer should have put us ahead in the first 5 minutes but his shot was perfect for fahey. The only missing link in the first half was kev mac at right mid.
Goal was well taken but we didn't really push on enough from it.
Second half same old defensive tactics but we could have been quite dangerous on the break with a quick proper right midfielder ( dougall ) instead of a slow backward passing midfielder. Penalty was a dive , Hislop's wave to us at the end just rubbed it in. Second goal was quite good but we just backed right off. Think it was sharpe. Wouldn't be calling for blacks job yet though, we were better than raith yesterday but just didn't finish it off. Not very impressed

Make your mind up. You were better than Raith for most of the first half, and we were better than you for most of the second half.
I think most Rovers fans would concede that a draw would have been fair.

Yes, won 7, four of them on the road. The two home defeats right after the international weekend knocked us out of our stride. Theres still something lacking at Stark's, despite yesterdays win. That first half was as bad as the Ross and Ayr shows. The other defeat was the Central Park embarassment.

Really? I thought the opposite, despite the last two home games, and despite the fact we've lost on every previous occasion we've gone behind, they responded to it very well this time, and even at 1-0 down I wouldn't have taken the draw. (I know that's easily said with hindsight but I thought it at the time too.)

Yes. Mind you, I am probably basing that on the first 20-25 minutes when Airdrie had all the possetion. We picked up towards the end of the half and started to more of the ball.
A very good result though and I am looking forward to playing Alloa next week. Hopefully we can keep our wee run of recent results going.

I remember two belters into the top corner at Ochilview towards the end of Calderon's reign - cant think of the scorers, and same season Darren Brady scored a screamer at Station Park;

I remember Scott Crabbe scored a peach of a free kick against Arbroath in 2001 i think?
Anyway, back on topic, i think we probably deserved the 3 points. Airdrie had a lot of possession in the first half, but didnt really seem to do much withi it if you know what i mean. Although i must say we rode our luck at times!
Much better in the 2nd half though. As was the case in the first game at New Broomfield, Airdrie looked decent going forward, but as soon as we cranked up the pressure at the other end of the park, they started to loose their way. TBH, my impression of the pen was that it was a stonewaller, but i was at the other end of the park so meh. I thought we deserved the foul anyway, as Hislop had been scythed down in the box earlier, and got nothing.
After we scored the pen, i could sense that we were going to score, we really put Airdrie under pressure and they kinda lost their way a bit - what a peach of a goal though!.
How the guy who bodychecked Carcary stayed on the park ill never know - an awful challenge.
One complaint though, i think Mglynn needs to start bringing subs on earlier.
Good result, and although we rode our luck a bit, ive seen ourselves in exactly the same situation as Airdrie were in during the game on Sat, countless times, so ill take the 3 points thank you very much!
Style and Panache - Who needs them?
EDIT - Hats off to Hislop who had a cracking game! Himself and Todd worked tirelessly throughout the match, i just hope he gets the goal that will certainly boost his confidence!

I may have done both Hislop and the ref a disservice on the penalty incident, looks like there was some shirt tugging as he made his way into the box - inconclusive from that though as it would have been on the blindside from the camera. The ref had a good view of it.
Sloan's goal doesn't look quite as wondeful as it did from the South Stand at the time. Still a fine strike, but Carcary's at Clyde was better. (Which starts about 2:05 into this extremely biased selection of highlights -

The culprit was Lovering, who conned the ref and fouled his way through the first game at Shyberry.
The crowd where we were in the old stand were saying the same thing about the lateness of the subs. Another thing we noticed, especially in the first half, was how slow rovers were - Airdrie won every 50-50 challenge and were a yard quicker in thinking and movement. I dont know what happened in the second half - maybe rovers were given something at half time

I thought there was a bit more in the Airdrie end too. The Rovers turnout was pretty poor, probably due to the last two home horror shows against RC and AU.

You have a lot to learn about Airdrie fans then. 5 minutes into the game before half of them arrive. A legacy from Broomfield being so close to the town centre (there was always time for that last pint)

Nah. His was round the other side of Hislop and he mysteriously seemed to slow up at that moment, then he throws his arms up in the in time for the player going over. Typical bit of defending, done all the time and you'll often get away with it 'cause it's on the blind side. This time the ref saw it. (Which was more than I can say myself, at the time.)
