If you gave me the No 9 jersey for Raith Rovers, id show passion and grit. But that dosent mean i should be playing does it?

If that was up the backof the South stand it was probably me. In defence of the fannies though they had a go because they though I was giving Hissy abuse. Was more than happy to release some frustration by making them aware of their mistake.

your right mate but he has been given stick rightly on occasions but when he does something right people dont see that.......and because people are getting on his back you notice more of his blunders ......the rest of the team do the same from time to time and it goes un noticed........I agree that in a lot of games he has looked lazy and a pace off the ball but I felt that today he tried like a bear....maybe a bit too hard at times???.....he did get 2 goals today so hopefully he may get a break and start hitting the back of the net a bit more.....showed balls steping up to a penalty knowing if he missed it he would have got slatted and even more abuse

Hislop wasn't too bad today so I don'y understand why he was being abused in the way he was.

Sorry, didn't quote properly - or at all. That was in response to a gentlemans post about some malcontents nearly fighting over remarks regarding Hislop.

I agree. The guys were totally unreasonable with the way they went about it.

I think criticism of Ayr is rather harsh. This is a team who played 120 minutes midweek, playing against a full-time side away from home.

Had Alex Williams been fit, he'd have had a hat-trick. Williams, Stevenson and Vareille had good games. We knocked the ball around well at times and created loads of chances - albeit on the break. We hit the underside of the bar, and the inside of the post before Rovers scored. It could have been a rout.

Clearly Neil Watt's tactics are still a bit pessimistic, as had we got the ball down and knocked it around even more I think we would have controlled more of the game. Ayr have a good squad and there is no reason for us to fear anybody in this league. If we can cut the negativity and encourage more of a passing game, we'll do far better.

I dont mean to have a go mate but in the second half there may not have been the best of skill on display but I can not say that there was no effort from hislop or the rest of the team......yes we didnt win.....we didnt play great....we were caught on the counter a few times due to the fact that we were trying to get back in the game and to get a goal.....especially at the start of the 2nd half......was gutted when they got the 3rd goal....
rw89
Easy to see the effect the fans can have on the team though. Thought 2nd half we looked so much better. If we all get behind the team and put this behind us i think we can start picking up points again. We're lucky we took points in our 1st 3 games and we're not too far behind. Like the Rc game, bits need improved.

Your right, we were alot better 2nd half. However, when Ayr scored that was it, game over. I really hope Fahey bounces back next week.

Aye. Will definatly be going to Brechin The last thing the team needs is to see fans not going to games.

Yes but we can do so much better and constantly gifting teams a 2-0 start then decide to start playing isn't good enough and as RW89 has said we were lucky we picked up the points we did in the first three games.

Games last 90 minutes not 10 or 15 which is how long we seem to play for huh.gif

Has anyone considered that Hissy gets maybe a tad more shit than he deserves?

In a game where we poor he scored twice in front of a set of fans who were at times just being stupid. The penalty took balls and his 1st took skill. I honestly think that at times some Rovers fans need to wake up. He didn't get the service he needs and we are not able to sign players who can create something from nothing.

True. I sensed disaster when I seen that our 3 centre midfielders were Winter, Dav and Silvo. All 3 are the defensive type of midfielder. Our creativity today was lacking.

Couldn't agree more. All our creative players were injured except carcary who didn't fit the system. Boris and Sloan are our best bet and if they had played today we probably would have looked better going forward.

If we had started the first half the way we started the second half we would have hammered them!

We cant play ay home. For some reason the players look edgy on the ball, everything is rushed and possession lost time after time. When we're away from home we're relaxed and the play looks confident. Maybe we cant cope with the way we're harried by teams at Stark's - we dont seem to get the same time and space at home as we do away either. We were second to every ball against Ross County and Ayr - I cant think of us winning a 50/50 ball in either of these games. Theres definitely something lacking along the lines of quickness and allertness in the team at home.
Kutski
It's quite simple why we don't perform at home and it was shwon clear as day today - the fans.

Whenever we lose the ball it's a big groan or sigh or the usual "yer pish" or "Git him fuckin aff" nonsense. Away from home this just doesn't happen.
bagpuss
First half was a bad as anything I remember from our second division days under DL. Second half was better but Ayr could have had a few more on the break. What annoys me is that the other team isn't having to work to beat us. Many of our defeats are self-inflicted. I can take being beaten by a better side that outplays us but that wasn't the case today.
Pit Bits Bits
OH YA BEAUTY!!!!

Whereas we had more of the chances in the 1st half, Raith certainly came out with real intent in the 2nd and how they never scored in the 1st 20 minutes of the 2nd half, I don't know.

Once our 3rd went in it was 'games a-bogey' and we could have added to the 3 with a bit of luck and better finishing.

Quite amusing how quick the Raith celebrations ended when they scored the penalty to make it 3-2.

The guy scores and before the ball has stopped bouncing in the back of the net, the final whistle goes!!!!!

GIRFUY!!!!

I don't really understand why everyone hates us...?

I know that you are going to come out with the usual "You well fot tht youz were lyk gaw walk the league n tht" but i can't actually find anyone who's said that we were going to!?

Not too long in from the game.

Raith had spells where it did just look a matter of time until they scored, but the defence held strong and in the end 3-2 flattered Raith as we could easily have had more.

I said earlier in this thread i wanted a nine goal thriller and not to get shat on this time. I got a five goal thriller and a near miss laugh.gif so my day was a success.

Best moment of the day however is a toss up between watching Stevenson turn inside Marvin Andrew, with ease, and slot the ball home

and The Raith fans right at the end celebrating the penalty, only to realise that it was the last kick of the game and they had lost. fantastic laugh.gif

Even Henderson looked decent for us today, making some great tackles and being dominant in the air.

this is how our team should be, going to places like Starks and bringing all three points down the road!

He must be McGlynn's love child huh.gif

Steve - you are a fanny. Hislop is a decent striker fot his division - who unfotunately gets no service. You need to direct your frustration at our non-existent midfielders.

If you want to see strikers of Van Nistelroys ( sp?) calibre then you need to start following another club. If you're a Raith fan, then make do with what we have. Hislop has proved that he can score goals if he's given service.

He's doing his job. Start shouting at those who are not doing theirs ( ie our midfield and our manager ).

Hislop has done nothing to impress this season. Put it this way, if i had been performing piss poorly at my work, then paying customers would be entitles to let me know what they thought.

I dont see how his situation is any different.

I reckon you probably have the tools you need to do you job though. Hislop doesn't.

Strikers need service. We have no midfield presence. We kicked off with 5 defenders and 3 defensive midfielders on the park. It was almost a, 8-0-2 formation.

Spot on comment. Certain Raith "fans" are the biggest hinderence to the club.
VoR
Absolutely astonished by how bad raith were. Granted, we played really well, but to think that lot were (and still are) being tipped up to win the league is a hoot. Their defence must be the slowest of all time...we nabbed 3 but could have had 7 with ease.

I haven't read the rest of this thread so maybe it's already been explained, but why was Weir taken off with 20 mins to go? For my money he was the best of a very bad lot - and why replace a striker when you're chasing the game?

Bad management?

Dont get me wrong, I rate McGlynn and he's done wonders for the club. But he needs to start adopting the same tactics at home as he does for away games. Todays starting line up showed that he feared Ayr. Playing 8 defensive players is just plain daft.

When he made changes at half time we were right back in it - if we'd scored at 0-2 we would have gone on to win. Unfortunately we got a bit gung-ho and were hit on the break for number 3.

Weir was subbed for Carcary - when Winter ( did he touch the ball in the game ? ) was the obvious sub. I've also no idea why Silvestro stayed on the park when we needed to score. He's done nothing creative in any game.............ever!

lzreid
Anoher thing...

The kind gentleman who told me to stop giving Hislop abuse - when in fact I had been possibly the only one near him not having a go. If you read this please have the balls to open your mouth before the 89th minute - like I did - as it may help to encourage others to get a grip.

Maybe.

Edited to add: it would also help if everyone who likes Hissy or even thinks he gets too much grief could show some proper support. It may increase the man's confidence and help the team.

Just a thought.
CALDERON
I suppose it dosent matter what we think about Hislop, we dont have the resources to play anyone else so we may aswell support him. I do think giving players stick during the game is harsh, ive never shouted abuse at a Rovers player when they were playing. By all means vent frustration at full time/on message boards though.

At the end of the day, we are paying customers to a business, and if were not getting value for money, were intitled to our thoughts and feelings.

I can see both sides of the coin. Any Rovers game for me usually involves 50 - 60 quid being spent for the day, so it pisses you off when the team play shite. However, the team will only get better providing we support them.
