If Kaunas meet Rangers in the Champions league should they recall their players on loan to Hearts?
How would the Hearts fans feel about losing some key players? What do you think Romanov will do?
Are Rangers fans confident about beating Kaunas anyway?

Romanov will be up for it no doubt he will see this game as the most important in his lifetime. It strikes me as a bit odd that one man can have such a vested interest with two clubs in such a big competion.Whatever way you look at it the champions league impacts on the SPL and vice versa.

Seriously though we should beat them over the 2 legs. TBH it is unthinkable to go out at this stage. We need the money obviously,You know yourself, the Champions League nights make it all worthwhile. Anything you get once you are there is a bonus.

I do realise we have an even tougher tie in front of us if we do get by Kaunas.

I think you will beat Kaunas but how can Romanov have such control over two teams who may affect one competition?

I am not going to look it up but i remember Joe Lewis invested millions in Rangers and his company,ENIC, also had control/shares in maybe upto 6 clubs throughout Europe. I think it is as long as they are in different FAs. I see your point though. Hold on...did Dermott Desmond not have a large stake in Manchester United?

No it was his pal Magnier.
If Hearts are playing Rangers the week before the game he could go all out and play dirty. He could also be in charge of two teams with one pool of players to choose from depending on his team selection and which competition he is playing in eg UCL or SPL.

Once a player is on loan can he just be recalled to his original team? I thought they had to see out the loan unless it was exceptional circumstances. It is worrying though just how many players have moved on loan between the clubs...TBH i thought he was using Hearts to put Kaunas players in the shop window for the Premiership.

As for Hearts playing dirty...whats new?

Hold onto your hats: he apparently has some sort of interest in no less than five clubs back home:

QUOTE
He is outraged by the domination of FBK Kaunas and claims Romanov is so powerful that he effectively "writes the plot of the championship".

Two Lithuanian clubs in the top league, Silute and Klaipeda Atlantis, are regarded as "daughter clubs" of Kaunas because their teams feature several on-loan Kaunas players.

"Romanov has protected and supported people who haven’t done anything good for Lithuanian football," [Vilnius County Football Federation president] Vaiginas claimed. "Romanov has created his own system in Lithuania against which no club can do anything.

"In the first league of football there are some five clubs under his wing.

"This means that Romanov writes the plot for the championship. This means the rest of the three clubs can never become champion and it’s always obvious the winner will be FBK Kaunas. This all leads to the degradation of football in Lithuania."

How can this be allowed ?UEFA should investigate this there are all sorts of potential shennanigans he could be up to.He basically has access to the Champions League competion every year with Kaunas and he can determine to some extent who qualifies from theSPL.

I agree, it's very strange and (bear in mind I have little to no legal knowledge) could surely constitute a cartel of sorts?

I think it's very odd that he had two "feeder" clubs in the same division as his main team. In places like Spain, reserve/feeder teams are allowed in the league setup but never in the same division as the parent club, which is the way it should be. They also have to have clearly demarcated squads at the end of each transfer window. Finally, they're no longer allowed to enter the Cups (which is a bit of a shame, but it makes sense.)

Sadly in a far-flung, televisually-unimportant UEFA outpost like Lithuania, the organisation probably won't be that stringent on what the domestic league allows.

Football seems to be becoming murkier all over the world, and this is just another example of it, albeit a small one.

That said, I really wouldn't worry too much about the loan deals. While inter-EU loan deals are extremely easy to start, i still think they're restricted somehow, and all Hearts' signings will be above board. I don't think it's possible to terminate a loan for a week then resume it after a qualifier.

To be fair, Rangers usually beat us anyway, so it shouldn't make that much difference even if Kaunas recall our entire first team huh.gif

I think we can now see why the mad one gets upset with the 'corrupt' institution that is Scottish Football - they're not his corruption. Also why would Kaunas recall players, as surely they want to at least have a chance of beating r*ngers wink.gif

Also, who or what are Brechin? unsure.gif

A club that's not ever going to do anything which anyone in the whole world, including Brechin fans, will ever care about?

Summed it up pretty well, to be fair. Kudos.

I like beans, they're really good with toast, it's a highly underrated meal, what I like about it's the fact that it's so quick and easy to make, it's really good when you're hungry and that, obviously you couldn't eat it every day 'cause that wouldn't be very nutritious but it's great when you're in the house alone or whatever.

Hibs are pish.

Great post.
