Anything other than Lumsden, even though he's been improving a little Marvin would be a much more respectable captain.

At that time he made Paul Browne look like a decent defender.

If he can stay fit this is a cracking(cheek bone cracking) signing for Raith.
My main memory of Andrews(except for smashing Marvyn Wilsons cheek bone when he was at Livi)was a midweek game against us at Somerset when Marv had Gary Teale in his pocket all night.Think Raith won 1-0 but cant be sure.

Not having a contract does not mean he isn`t getting paid.If you think Levein isn`t getting paid you need to check yourself in.

Ayr tinted specs on I believe. If you had ever met Marv you would know that there is absolutely no chance on earth he would hurt another human being intentionally. Bad challenge maybe, vicious and unprovoked assault is nonsense!

There are late challanges, and there are mis-timed ( oops ) challanges and there are 'deliberate late challenges' and then there is Andrews challange on Marvyn Wilson.
No tinted specs, 20-20 vision at 35 yards.
Sure he was playing for Livingston at the time, and if Leishman was the boss he'd have been under orders.

I think everybody is under that impression. Board didnt trust him to bring in players but couldnt get rid of him cause of his salary which must have been higher tham most people thought.
Anyway great signing and he is home.

You can read about Marvin, and Jim Leishman's visit to hear him preach in Cardenden - and also about Craig Levein, in the forthcoming book, Helicopter Dreams: The Quest for the Holy Grail. It'll be on sale at the Cowden v Raith game on 4th November.

That is a great signing for Raith.
Even just from a mental pov. To line up in the 2nd division with such a big name could def cause a few teams a problem even before a ball is kicked.
Really looking forward to coming to Starks for our next game. Think that Raith will be a totally different force now. Always enjoyed going to Starks (as we've got good results more than anything else) so will watch their progress with great interest.

I really do hope for your sake he's "pay per play".
The reason he didn't go to Reading or the 2/3 Championship sides down in England is that he refuses to have a recommended knee operation on religious grounds. Apparently repairing his knee would interfere with "God's plan" for him. This is the reason he's been punted from Rangers and the reason Reading backed away at the last minute after agreeing terms.
If he is fit enough to play he'll still be on a dodgy knee and without the operation it can only get worse.

Mon the Rovers. We will make the play-offs...god wills it.
A good and a bad signing for Rovers. As a player, at this level, he is going to be a mountain in defence and will no doubt chip in with the odd headed goal. An excellent move by Levien.
However, there is a dark side to this man's character. He is a narrow minded religious bigot who makes his opinion clear regardless who is in attendance or who it offends. He is also living in cloud cookoo land when it comes to injuries and his ability to recuperate.
As I say, a real split decision imo. Then again Rovers haven't had their troubles to seek so I hope it works out for you lot.

From my information that is simply not true.
While I will admit (and I said as much in my last post) he is in a fantasy land regarding his injuries, but the main reason he did not move south was his reluctance to leave his parish. This is one of the reasons the RR move is so convenient.

Marvin Andrews Offers to ‘Cure’ Lesbian Liberal Democrat MSP Margaret Smith
February 27, 2006 at 12:48 pm
Pink News reports Marvin Andrews, a soccer player in Scotland, is being criticized for recently commenting that his church could “cure” Liberal Democrat MSP Margaret Smith of her sexual orientation.
Andrews also had this comment about gays and lesbians: “There is a demon in their spirits, their spirits are ill. But God can help them through his church and anyone who doubts this can check the bible.”

I can see some comedy fancy dress being the order of the day for fans when playing RRFC.
I have to say I'm staggered at the length of contract he's been given. I imagine RRFC will have him heavily insured. They won't want to be paying for a three year contract two and a half years after God decides he has more important things to see to, than making big Marv fit for Recreation Park.
If he has any kind of fitness he could be a good signing. I have a feeling Raith mean business now. Does it makes sense to fork out lots of cash just to get beaten in the play-offs though? I hope they know what they're doing.
