I was wondering if you had any info on where abouts Rafael went after his spell with us and if he is still playing now?

You were one of rare Brazilians to have played in Scotland. What can you say to us about your experience?

Scheidt

This experience unfortunately was not good for me because I almost did not play. I was quickly injured and I was far away from the pitch for nearly 9 months. Nevertheless, the stay in Scotland was enriching for me and my family. Professionally it was really difficult.... I could not show my real value and my potential which had me selected in national team in 1999.

Are there other example of foreign players whose surname sounds a bit dodgy in English? I remember Jackin-off-ski playing for Celtic.

There was a Brazilian defender called Argelico Fucks who played for Benfica.

It was around the £5 million mark, usually given as 4.8m or 5.3m in the press.

Definately up there as one of the worst transfer deals in World football history. He cost Celtic £1.6 per game, excluding signing on fee and wages. Whoever sanctioned that deal (Was it Dalglish as GM?) should've been hung from the top of Parkhead

I am 'proud' to say I saw one of his 3 games. Although we were so bad that year, Celtic still beat us 4-1 in a cup game! Mind you, prob his fault we scored, can't remember.

Er, we only played one match in the cup that year *shudder*

To be fair to him, he did have bad luck with injuries when he arrived. MON then dispatched him immediately (no doubt with some suitably witty put downs) and he continued his impressive career with some of the top Brazilian sides.

Looking back, Barnes was perhaps a sort of prototype LeGuen: naive about what was possible in the SPL. An elegant ball playing centre half is great in theory, but in practice you need a Mjallby (or at least a Stubbs) to smite the diddy teams.

Edit: I've just checked and it was at the start of the following season in the league cup when he played Raith. And it was 4-0 tongue.gif

Aye, 4-0, it was 0-0 at half time but Alex bloddy Burns had to swear at the linesman in stoppage time didn't he? dry.gif

Alan Thomson debut if I remember correctly, and he scored two goals as well did he not?
AyrshireTon
Tam Cowan wanted septic to sign David Weir alongside Tebily and Sheidt, so that the tannoy could sound as though he was reading out a backline of "We're terribly shite". laugh.gif

One of MON's little mistakes at parkhead, he should have gave the man a chance to really get
established at Parkhead.

Could've sworn we scored. Had probably been drinking slightly, as I usually have to do when visiting weej.

Was that the game Tommy Johnson was playing (and scoring) in too?
