Don't know what to expect on Saturday as we complete the first quarter of the season.
The last thing I expected last week was a clean sheet v Cowden having conceded 9 in 135 minutes v Raith and Peterhead. We seem to be quite inconsistent and play well in patches of games. Our defence still can't be trusted though and easily our most consistent and reliable defender has been Lee Sharp who is a left midfielder.
Reverted to a back 4 last week for the first time since pre-season and would expect the same line up minus Mark Crilly who is suspended AGAIN for his SECOND red card of the season. Dougie Ramsay will probably come in.
Alloa seem to be struggling like last season but you rarely get an easy game at the Recs nad they are due a win. Then againa Davy Hamilton is due a goal as he hasn't scored for 1 game!
LIKELY SFC XI:
BLACK
MCKINSTRY SNOWDON SHARP MCALPINE
NICHOLAS RAMSAY HAMILTON MCMULLAN
MOORE BURNS
Where is Mark Crilly ? He has got to be one of the worst players in the 2nd division.........
Remeber someone saying he had a left boot like beckham ?? ha ha ha

One of the worst players ever to play at this level.

I'm not a fan either but surely he's not as bad as Chris "100k" Templeman?
Crilly has had a few good games for us so far, needs to keep involved in games as he's an excellent passer. Unfortunately he picks up far too many bookings (mostly silly ones) and has already been sent off twice this season.

That's a monobrowed chimp-esque post!
What garbage - Ramsay was a good squad player for us and quite versatile and i'm sure he's the same at Stranraer. i can think of a good few players who are atrocious even at this level and Ramsay isn't one of them.
McKinstry on the other hand.....

Another week another must win for the Wasps, we really have to get 3 points to keep us from falling adrift of the pack. According to a quote from Alan Maitland in the Alloa Advertiser Kieran McAnespie could return and that would be a boost. I know the Ayr fans werent too fond of him but in the few games he's managed for us he has looked quite decent and has threatened to be the kind of creative player we've really lacked in previous weeks.
Im still weighing up the thought of another 6 hour round trip to watch the same old scheidt.....but no doubt come Saturday morning Ill be on the train

I was keen on him actually, but the problem is he's a one in five player. You know the type: abject rubbish for about 4 games then 90 brilliant minutes and then repeat ad nauseam
When on form he can do this:

Well that's us of bottom spot...........
We were unlucky not to get the full three points today, even though it took an own goal to secure the point!
A brainstorm by Stuart Malcolm to gift Stranraer a first half penalty, what was he thinking about??????? One of the daftest/ most unneccessary handballs in the box, ever.
I think that Graeme Brown could have played all day without scoring, woodwork and keeper keeping him out on a few occassions. He was very unlucky and surely on another day would have been on the score-sheet.
Overall we have to be happy with the point but over the piece our play was definitely superior to Stranraers.
We just cannot beat shite teams at home and it only points to another year of struggle. Stranraer showed little ambition just like Ayr 2 weeks ago, and like them almost escaped with 3 points . We were dire in the first half but improved after the break . At least Graham Brown worked their goalkeeper who had some fine stops . Two points dropped despite a late equaliser.

Frustrating afternoon at the Recs. First half was same old story with Alloa enjoying loads of the ball and playing some nice football but lacking any real cutting edge. Start of the second half and as wasp4ever says a rush of blood to the head by the otherwise excellent Stuart Malcolm to handle the ball when there was simply no danger, a crazy penalty to concede. We then spent the rest of the match pressing and poor old Graeme Brown being denied by 3 or 4 superb stops from the Stranraer goalie. Just as it looked like we werent going to get anything 3 Stranraer defenders made a real mess of a goalline clearance and it ended up in the net.
2 points from the 3 games against Ayr, Raith and Stranraer is a rubbish return and wont do over the season but I think there might be some light at the end of the tunnel. McAnespie was back today and did well after coming on and McClune is starting to get fit and did well in the 2nd half. After the international break Ross Clark will also be back, as will Townsley. Things should look up....hopefully
By God we need to get a new striker into that team. We can play some nice controlled passing football in midfield but if there is nobody to put the ball in the net what is the point? Graeme Brown had enough chances to score four or five goals on his own but he seems to be completely unable to score at the moment. He will do us a job as a second striker as he is a good player who works hard but we can not continue with him as our main goal scoring threat.
It was good to see Keiran McAnespie back in the team it is just a shame the players seemed determined not to pass to him as he stood out on the left wing in acres of space while the rest of the team put together a series of short passes on the right wing.
I actually think we aren't too far from having a decent team and if we could start scoring goals that would give the whole team a confidence boost. I really hope the rumours about us bringing in an SPL striker on loan are true.

Can't complain about the result in spite of us throwing away a late equaliser. Alloa more than deserved it and had Scott Black not been in amazing form Graeme Brown would have had a hat-trick. (Two double saves by Black from Brown, at least one other shot held, and the crossbar also denied him)
From our point of view, we just about deserved to go ahead, but did little or nothing after that - defended very deep and, apart from them almost running out of time, an Alloa equaliser looked pretty inevitable.
In saying that, 4 points from the Cowden and Alloa games is pretty acceptable after the disastrous fortnight before those games.
