Michael O'Neill has managed to persuade his good friend Jim Magilton to bring his side up for our Centenary match on the 5th of October. (Week on Thursday)

Magilton has promised to bring up his strongest side so hopefully some football supporters from nearby will come along and celebrate 100 years of Brechin City. smile.gif

Indeed he is, and with him being a regular he will no doubt be playing a part.

Would have taken a trip up if i wasnt backshift next week. You dont get a chance to see these teams to often, think the last championship side i saw was sheffield utd in a friendly at starks park, way back in 2000!

Ipswich have always been a team that has played games in Scotland, going back to their meetings with Aberfeldy based Breadalbane in the '60's.

Prices confirmed as £5 for children and £10 for adults. Very reasonable.

Get yourselves along to the game if you have nothing else on, it should be a good spectacle.

Really looking forward to this, the club have done an excellent job of building the game up as a big tie in the local press and on the website.

City managed a 2-2 draw against a strong Ipswich side. smile.gif

Ipswich scored a simply breathtaking opener before Chris Geddes had a goal disallowed for offside. Stuart Callaghan then heded in an equaliser before Charlie King put us in front at the break. Ipswich equalised in the second half when John Hillcoat couldn't keep out a powerful effort which hit the post before going in.

Despite the scoreline, Ipswich looked a very good side, and there passing and movement was exceptional.

That's a decent team you drew against, well done smile.gif

Did you manage to get a decent crowd in? Hopefully you did as the club have done well to organise a match against a decent Ipswich side.
'Steve
Only around 350 which was a little dissapointing.

Felt if it was a better night then a number of football supporters from around the area would have attended, but it was pretty much just the Brechin die-hards and a handful of Ipswich folk.
Javier Mascherano
Wasn't it Geddes who scored the 2nd?

Could you have organised it for either the end of the season or start of the season or something then? especially with it being a midweek game a lot of people may have not been able to get through after work or something. unsure.gif 350 people seems a bit dissapointing for such a big team visiting as you say.

Crowd quoted in paper as 500 odd....

That's what I thought but seems to be quoted everywhere else as Charlie King. huh.gif

Yep, official crowd was 511. Not terribly bad.

Once he was substituted off, he came back on 10 minutes later. Confused?

Pictures from the game can now be found HERE.

Despite there now being evidence to the contrary, I still say it was Geddes who scored the second.

I genuinely thought it was Geddes too but Chucky was boasting after the match about it, plus the pictures now prove it. biggrin.gif
