Bit of a shock, that. I was expecting it to be Dalziel.

I would have expected it to be Ayr United supporters, after our brilliant away record.

Better make the most of it the now, the morton managers office is littered with MOTM awards from August to December but strangely none after that blink.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Don't knock it.

All the manager of the month awards in the world can't nip down to the bookies at the end of May and trouser a fortune..... wink.gif

I would have thought that it would have been Mixu, afterall, he's taken a rag-tag bunch of cowpers and turned them into early pace-setters in the division unsure.gif

Is that the pacesetters who are 4 points off the pace?

They were only one point behind at the end of the month. I don't know what the criteria are for judging the Manager of the Month award, but I would have thought some account would have been taken of inputs as well as outputs (it is Manager of the Month after all, not Chequebook of the Month). If so, I would have given the award to Mixu.

Going by those rule jim could never win it which seems unfair.

Mixu should have got it. Manager of a part-time team which has just been promoted, making a blistering start in August. With a truly independent panel of observers there would have been no contest.

Macca deserved it, of that I am in no doubt.

Mixu completely deserved it in my opinion. I agree to an extent with Bryan that it shouldn't be completely judged on resources at each respective manager's disposal but I think that the start Cowdenbeath made merited the award going to Paatelainen. Morton should, more often than not, pick up 11 or 12 points out of 15 whereas to expect the same of Cowdenbeath is unfair at this stage. If Morton had a 100% record I would agree that McInally deserved it but I think given how close things were at the end of August Mixu deserved it.

Did you read the Ayr fan in the Record hotline calling for Dalziel to be re-appointed at Somerset huh.gif unsure.gif This guy thinks Dalziel could "bring back the glory days" laugh.gif

Would agree that Mixu should have won this award. Cowden's blistering start for a newly promoted part-time side was more of an achievement than Morton going unbeaten, albeit that was very impressive.
garymcc1874
Why does he deserve it more than Macca, really?

Stirling, Brechin, and Ayr are closer to Cowden points-wise than Cowden are to Morton.

People are talking as if Cowden are the only part time team in the league huh.gif

Add to that, the excellent football we played in August(Raith, Stranraer, Peterhead, Cowden cup game).

Who honestly expected Cowden to come out and blitz a few established Division 2 sides in the first few games of the season?? Its not just the fact that they won a few games but the mannner in which they did and with far fewer resources than Morton.

Morton have done very well but you couldnt say their start was explosive in the same Cowdenbeaths was...and ultimately Morton were expected to and should be at the top of the league.

However you can just see some clown at the SFL looking at the league table and allocating the award to McInally there and then laugh.gif

I'm not gonna argue about it all night, we have differing opinions about it. And that's that.

But the part I have put in bold above just takes us back to Bryan's point earlier, in that if that logic was used Macca would never be able to get a MotM which is completely unfair.

I see what youre getting at but when there is close decision about who should get the award it seems quite fair that the manager with less resources is more deserving and should get it. Thats not to say McInally should never be MoTM, just in this case I think Mixu is more deserving.

Ultimately though McInally does have an advantage on the other managers in the league and should be at the top, its natural he isnt going to get huge plaudits for winning promotion because he SHOULD be doing that, thats just life.

Who support Ayr United? laugh.gif

What did you lot do to deserve it huh.gif

I have to add my reply to this arguement.I truly believe mixu should win the award purely from a manager doing a great job.every fan in the 2nd division expects morton to be unbeaten after every game. However as said previously no one expected cowden to come out and truly blitz certain teams who by all means are good sides.
the manner in which we play and our results as well as resources - mixu has done the better job for me.However i dont think he is the kinda guy who would give a hoot if he won or not.whereas mcinally ph34r.gif
garymcc1874
Mixu is definitely a contender for September MotM, eh? laugh.gif

What's that? 3rd in the league now? 7 points behind Morton? smile.gif laugh.gif
